Assemble a Cox 049 Corsair in five minutes Empty Assemble a Cox 049 Corsair in five minutes

I found it some days ago,hidden in a corner, it seems to be in perfect shape after all these years, I do not know what to do, maybe put an RC receiver and servos and try to fly or save just to remember good moments when flying long time ago (in circles).



I love the design, simple and efective

nice video and very nice music.

p.s. try one of the 2.4GHz ultralight radio systems. 2 servos, receiver and small 220mAhr battery pack weigh less than 2ounces.

I would imagine that this, or any other C/L RTF, as an RC model would fly like the proverbial housebrick!

Great video! Your video gives me another competition idea lol! who can assemble a cox engine the fastest? From completely disassembled to complete and ready to run. I'll have to think this up...talk it over with some of the forum staff, we'll see.

Welcome to forum!
Do not try to convert this to RC trust me, there is a reason we don't see any plastic RC planes out there.
If I were you I would either fly it CL or keep it as a show piece.

Sorry but plastic RTF's are usually poor flyers and are best preserved as "curiosity" items.

I agree that an RC converstion would not be worth the trouble or expense.

I don't think an 049 would actually get it in the air as a RC version, as it's just way too heavy as is. Let alone adding 4 micro servos, battery and receiver. Can it be done with a larger engine.... sure, will it fly.... anything can fly with a big enough engine.

we done it..3No & 4No (o49 with throttle) servos, 1s lipo, Rx and 1oz tank..fly great..aerobatic as well..loops rolls easy

WingingIt74: nice graphic! p.s. i completely agree with trying to comvert plastic CL planes to RC and btw only 2 or 3 -9gram micro servos would be needed unless there are flaps or retractable wheels??
