I wonder what that flange is for at the rear... To prevent cracking maybe?
Re: Wanted:TD .049/.051 Red Plastic Carb Body

I think it has something to do with locating a muffler or exhaust throttle. Altho', its location probably helps with the cracking problem. Sort of a two-fer.

I think I read Cox added that to strengthen it, but I don't know for sure.

No, they came on the tee dee .05 RC it is to stop the muffler rotating.
Re: Wanted:TD .049/.051 Red Plastic Carb Body
I think I'll take a crack at repairing the old one, and if that does not work, purchase a new one.

I would love one, but it is too expensive for me.
Carb body
I know most of you know this but when you fix/ replace these just get them finger tight and then a partial turn with wrench. They break from being on to tight/crash/both.

I wish the alums came with the muffler ridge/tab. Problem is is that there are not alot of the OEM RC 05 mufflers available out there, so not much call for the ridge/tab.
I managed to score 1 RC 05 muffler NIP, ,the other one I have is JB welded up due to someones crazy idea to make it fit better.

I'm not 100% convinced the ridge/tab is there for that reason seeing that how few of the .05's are out of the box being run. I think it's more for renforcement to stop cracking.

Re: Wanted:TD .049/.051 Red Plastic Carb Body
I always turn it finger snug and use the NVA to turn it another 8th or so of a turn. It never loosens in flight, and if I whop it, it just unscrews without bending the needle. And I do occasionally whop it. I position the needle so it's leaning backwards too.dankar04 wrote:I know most of you know this but when you fix/ replace these just get them finger tight and then a partial turn with wrench.
