Narrow masking tape source?

Narrow masking tape source?
I'm finding it extremely difficult to find masking tape narrower than 1/2" to do trim work on several project planes. I've tried slicing my own from a roll of 1/2" using a #11 Exacto blade but the result is not satisfactory for a number of reasons. I've also "searched" art and craft supply stores but 1/2" is as narrow as can be found.
I'16" or 1/8" would be ideal. Any suggestions where I might obtain narrow masking tape?
Thank you for your responses.

I use the Tamiya stuff.
They have great model finishing products.
Here is a UK link although Tamiya sell their stuff all around the world so it should not be too hard to get in the US.

Try an automotive finishing store. Most automotive paint supply stores will carry really flexible tapes in a wide variety of sizes.

+1
You can get some really narrow pinstriping mask tape from a Auto paint store and thats where I got mine from. Picked up some 1/32 tape and a couple sized up from that.

Re: Narrow masking tape source?
I get a monthly catalog from Tower ever since I bought some wood from them. Reading it depresses me as they act like 1/2A and C/L do not even exist.

Rusty:
I'm no fan of Tower either for that very reason but I do find their vast selection of generic modeling supplies impressive and sometimes appealing.
Tower is the "front" for Hobbico which is a vast consolidation of interests focused more on profitabilty than meeting consumer interests like ours. Fortunatly there are other small suppliers that are appealing to us on the fringe.

Super Dave!
Head down to Hobby Lobby if you have one.
Lot's of real narrow masking tape in the art section. We'll it's mean't for other purposes but, acts as masking tape nonetheless.

Ron:
There is no Hobby Lobby in these parts that is accessible to me. There is a Hobby Town nearby but it is floundering due to a lack of business. He and his cohorts are no fans of anything nitro related either. The stock of merchandise is pretty limited at HT also.
Like the rest of the horde, I find is simpler and more cost effective to shop on-line and have items mailed directlty to my doorstep. With gas at the $4/gal level having my wife drive me around looking for modeling stuff doesn't make much sense either. Sure I pay shipping but I don't pay our state sales tax either.
It's about a wash anyway.

For us it's like 1.70 per litre and there are 3,7 or something litres in a gallon.

Re: Narrow masking tape source?
I got some 3M 1/16 wide masking tape from an automotive paint and body supply shop. It costs about 5 or 6 bucks a roll and it works great for going around curves and there is no bleed through!

I also get mine from a Auto Paint Supply Shop in town.
Something you probably already know...it's a REAL good idea to store tape on a flat surface, sandwiched between sheets of wax paper, in a cool, dust-free place. The adhesive along the edges attracts dust, and over time, will also stick to the inner surface of their dispenser box.

"With gas at the $4/gal level"
I would be VERY happy if gas here was $4.00 gallon, ours is $2.39 a LITRE, which equates to about $10 a gallon!

TMI!
Same as kim, my painting tapes are stored dust free as i can get them. Once those edges load with dust and grit,,you get edge bleed when painting. Very important to cover those in a tupperware or ziplock bag.

Re: Narrow masking tape source?
I've found that Great Planes 1/8" masking tape bleeds colors quite easily unless the color separation line is first given an application of clear dope applied at full un-thinned consistancy.
When dried the clear dope prevents colored dope from speeping under the tape and causing a mess.
