Re: What was your first and what did you do with it?
My first Cox engine was a Babe Bee .049 that went into a "Miss Unlimited" hydroplane which I ran until it was throughly saturated with castor oil and unuseable any longer. At the time my principle modeling interest was flying Class C CL stunt competition.
I still have the engine and the remnants of hydro which isn't much good except to make patterns. I have all the running gear parts carefully preserved. The engine as been thoughly cleaned and "refreshed" with the usual gaskets, seals etc. and runs very well still. It is now part of my collection of Cox engines.

Cox PT-19, blue and yellow with babe bee. Stuff it into the clay at the ball field, rinse it off with fuel, some new rubber bands to hold the plane together, back in the air we go!

Could it have been a Wen-Mac Corsair? Cox didn't offer a Corsair until '68

I stand corrected. Thanks Mark for the post of the Wen-Mac blue Corsair. That IS the plane I got in 1960. My memory just ain't what it used to be. Thought it was a Cox. What does a 9 y. o. know anyway. Since this thread is about the first Cox product we owned and I can't tell remember (dang memory) witch of my later c\l airplanes were Cox. I owned several and some were Cox, just can't remember the first so I will bow out of this conversation.

hey, i can't remember what I had for breakfast. I do think other brands are allowed here!
Re: What was your first and what did you do with it?
My first was a .049 in a PT-19. Being new to my neighborhood I had no one to help me learn to fly it so shortened up the lines and swung it around in circles unpowered to get the feel for it. I then had to figure out how to launch it by my myself so I set up a 3rd line connected to a T-pin, a rubber band and a nail pounded in the ground. It wasn't very long before I had the neighbors come out to see what I was up too.

My first cox engine was a PeeWee about 1986 it came on a small flat blister pack card not a box, i built a small 2ch model to learn to fly rc , as soon as i could fly it without smashing it the PeeWee was taken off and a black widow fitted as the peewee is a bit low on power

Just saw post about plastic RTF's flung around with out engine running. What a hoot! Thought I was the only one who did that. Didn't want to admit it. Ran all of my fuel out in the basement before weather let me get my plane out side. What a dork I was. Sometimes I feel like I still am. Think my first attemps to fly my present RTF's will most likly be by human power and not nitro. If that goes well, we will see. Thanks to whoever started this thread, it has taken me down memory lane and at my age, that is a lot of fun.
