Space Bug Advertisement
Here is the first Space Bug advertisement that I have. It is from the August 1952 issue of Model Airplane News.
Note that it is an artist's drawing and was done showing a standard glow plug. I don't think any were shipped without the Cox glow head.
Enjoy!
George

Matt,
I had not seen yours. Did you per chance get it from the same mag?
For CL enthusiasts, it is the issue of MAN that features Bob Palmer's MARS. I only have a few mags from that era...sure wish I had a full collection!

Re: Space Bug Advertisement
I have seen space bugs with that conversion head, could it be initial issue thing?
like maybe the post prototype but pre production ones, if that makes any sense.

George,
It is from the same issue, but I cropped the bottom since mine was ripped. I will have to take a look to see if I have that mag. I have been trying to put some of the neater ones on the site, but time is never on my side

Re: Space Bug Advertisement
The artwork for the Space Bug was taken from a early prototype, as the glowhead was also being developed at the time. It was never sold this way.
Here's a seldom seen ad from may of '53, the two piece head is gone and Thimble-Drome is on its way, with new handle and fuel!

I think I still have one of those "SKYLON" reels.
