just ran my gb

just ran my gb
just ran my golden bee engine, not 5 minutes ago. First time i have run it, starts easily and is a screamer with #6 cylinder and piston. Thanks Joe for the exaust deflectors they made a huge difference on were the oil went when it came out of the motor. She runs at about 3 1/2-4 turns of the needle valve.
P.S me and my dad are both about half deaf after the thing ran for about 3 mins

I sure wish I had worn muffs or ear plugs when I played with glow engines for years. My family and I are tired of me always asking "what did you say?"

Mitch,
I like the idea of using the #6 piston/cylinder.
My favorite non sub induction set up.
Good for mufflers.
I remember the one or two I ran, were pretty stout.
Bob
How 'bout a photo?

Re: just ran my gb
Mitch,
Looks like you're concerned with deflecting the engine exhaust(castor).
The mufflers with the little exhaust stem, and the deflectors will keep the
fuselage somewhat clean, but you'll still have to deal with the wing.
I've only seen the deflector associated with Cox rc cars, not so much
in flight.
Nice looking plane there.

Hmmmm,.....Team up with them, and help them find the culprit.

It sure doesn't make a lot of difference. You'll still need hearing protection.mitchg95 wrote:

Mitch:
Seems to me that using a Cox exhaust deflector with a muffler wouldn't be necessary as the muffler itself would deflect the exhaust.

Agreed, one or the other......
The muffler does quiet things down some but, it's still plenty loud. Remember the prop itself makes plenty of racket!

Wanta hear loud try standing behind a Dyna-Jet. As a kid the engines noise was like sweet music, but now they can be loud. Mufflers cause alot of extra heat and take away power, but sometimes needed.

WHAT????
At 14 I didn't think I needed to protect my hearing. At 54 I still don't, because now it's probably too late.
