Cox Engine of The Month
The Cox QRC

The Cox QRC
Finally my QRC is complete, thanks to JasonWI for some parts we traded.
My question is this, did it come with the high-comp head, this pic is from Matt's website.
Mine also has the high-comp head on it as well, not to say it's original though.
I also notice the exhaust spring is upside down, which I think you would less likely to get your finger hit by the prop.

Re: The Cox QRC
The older ones did, yes. The newer ones came with the regular #325, which is a standard compression head.

Re: The Cox QRC
I read somewhere that the high comp head was added to make up for the loss of performance from adding a muffler.

I probably have an instruction manual somewhere, but not in a digital format. If I had to guess I would say late 80's into the 90's. I have seen a bunch on eBay like this over the years. All had the plastic backplate you would expect for a late 80's/early 90's.

I have a NIB Sportavia kit with the QRC and the pic on the box shows a zinc plated metal backplate. Kit was initially purchased new in 1982 and never opened. Havent opened the shipping box yet, just recieved it yesterday. I would imagine it has the high comp head.

Re: The Cox QRC
Every time I find a QRC in a crystal box, it has the 1702 head. When I see the plastic backplate later ones, those have the 325 head.
Re: The Cox QRC
Metal backplate with regular head on mine. 1977 Cox Hobbies, div. of Leisure Dynamics, Warner Ave, Santa Ana.
I'll host the manual this morning.

Re: The Cox QRC
Had to open the box and pull this Sportavia kit apart to see what I had.
So I have the natural finish 8cc tank, zinc plated/dipped metal B plate , and low comp head.

RE:Cox QRC
My QRC instruction sheet dated 1977 shows the 1702 head, and the Instructions dated 1986 and 1993 both show the 325 head as standard. My NIB 1993 QRC has the plastic backplate , 325 head and Snap Starter as the earlier picture. FYI
