Yes, you are right!
Those Tamiya connectors were the one usually found on the earlier nicad packs years ago.
Until Sermos, AstroFlight, Deans, and other came out (which were better for our modelling stuff).
I had those Tamiya connectors that usually came with my Kyosho R/C airplanes that I purchased from Tower Hobbies.
Until one time the connector overheated and melted and shorted out.
From there, I switched over to the Deans connectors which were more robust.

Re: R/C battery connector..Help
Thanks.
Goes with this dusty cabin find. I don't remember where it came from, a Mark flea market buy maybe. Got to figure how the deck comes off to get to the probably useless battery.
Mark ordered those connectors from Amazon. Pond is up due to all the recent rain. Might sail it around a bit looking for the occasional Japanese Cruiser or Battleship.

Turns out it's a model of a Russian combo carrier/cruiser.
This fellow did some mods.

HT-2878B
Here's another vid Robert. A slightly different controller.. but the same model. (actually designated HT-2878B)
This one is more like yours.. in that it utilizes "differential-steering" (no rudders) which makes it much more maneuverable; unlike the model in the other video.

Re: R/C battery connector..Help
Thanks roddie. I did not realize that it had a battery hold down. Old timer got a little jiggy with it, doing donuts in the water.
I have to take the deck off mine to hose it down, no way I could clean it on the hull. The phillips heads are concealed under little plastic caps. A Harbor Freight pick lifts them right out.
Mark found a connector so I didn't have to order any.

Re: R/C battery connector..Help
Ok, this is really, really strange. I haven't seen this before, maybe some here have.
The Phillips head screws were capped with plastic plugs which I removed quite easily. But, some were buried under the decks airplanes which are on pedestals that you would think to be pressed on. Nope, they cemented them on. I had to break the airplanes off to get to the screws. I popped them all off and unscrewed the phillips heads. I thought I could just lift the deck off. Nope. They cemented the male/female pedestals bosses together.
Ok, I'll just pry them off. Nope, they cemented the whole deck to the hull. This thing ain't coming apart..........Maybe a Dremel with a cutting wheel. Not worth it, I'll just suspend it upside down and wash off the deck.
Small screwdriver is under the broken airplanes pedestal, large is under the screws boss.
The good news, I got the battery out and wired in Marks connector and it seems to be accepting a charge. Charge light is on and the charger is warm.
Oh yeah...The battery retainer is not like the clip that the old timer had that just snaps on/off. This one was screwed down on both ends with a clamp and only one screw assessible. I had to force twist it to get the battery out.
More strange. The switch on the transmitter is fake. There is no connection to it. I tried to slide it and couldn't. I took it apart and it's just a plastic box with no connectors. (Right below the leds light pipe.) I guess if you want to use it, you turn it on by adding the battery. Remove it to turn it off.
Fake switch box under the light pipe.
Half my tool box dealing with this thing.
This is what you get when the Chinese and Russians collaborate.
The deck has me stymied. The pool guy got his off with no problems.

Re: R/C battery connector..Help
I found one of the broken off blades, because it's Russian it would probably fly if I glued it back on.
I connected the battery this morning and one of the red lights on the island came on so it's getting power, but the motors are not turning. There is a green indicator light on the transmitter that comes on only when one of the controls are toggled so I guess you can leave the 9V in all the time with no current drain.
There are four on ebay right now, all but one "parts" models. From $397.50 to $30.00.
Thinking I'm going to rip into this one sometime today. Nothing to lose.
