TD .051 with high compression head will give you the most power, use a standard head for more RPM.

perfect, i have those, what might i expect (rpm) with a golden bee with .051 cylinder/piston set and 4.5x4 prop from bernie

Re: what is the most powerful cox .049
Start with a tee dee 049.
Lighten the psiton.
Add 2 more boost flutes.
get the Heli crank.
Use the 5 fin head adapter and about 4 gaskets.
pressure tap it.
get a tuned muffler.
drill out the venturi.
Get a fine thread needle.
Or JUST DIESEL IT for the most "torque".

The faster you go the more often you gotta replace and refit things.

CS enignes sells one but it would have to be adapted to fit a cox.mitchg95 wrote:nitroairplane wrote:Start with a tee dee 049.

Have you tried any of these mods yourself?

This doesn't make any sense, more rpm means more power.

Well depending on what prop you are running yes it really does.Surfer_kris wrote:microflitedude wrote:TD .051 with high compression head will give you the most power, use a standard head for more RPM.

All apart from the heli crank and tuned muffler.Surfer_kris wrote:nitroairplane wrote:Start with a tee dee 049.

Well assuming the same prop of course. You cannot not make more rpm without making more power.

Re: what is the most powerful cox .049
True I only really fly .049's with a 6x3 prop or more anything less i feel they sound like the are going fast but don't really have that PULL that I love.Surfer_kris wrote:nitroairplane wrote:Well depending on what prop you are running yes it really does.Surfer_kris wrote:microflitedude wrote:TD .051 with high compression head will give you the most power, use a standard head for more RPM.

Re: what is the most powerful cox .049
This is perhaps what the original question is about (from aerotools);

Re: what is the most powerful cox .049
Also prop choice is very important as some tend to flatten out at higher rpm.

The 6x3 is a little big for the engine, if you build something lighter and slimmer (plane that is) you can use a smaller prop and then really have the engine get into song.
