Re: Cox Sure Starter
I'm pretty sure they used a 9 Volt battery as well as the "D" cells for the "clear-flood" mode, which obviously gave a quick burst of power to burn off excessive fuel. Sounds a little risky. Can't be certain. Just remembering!

Re: Cox Sure Starter
A RCAT is a currently available igniter. I've had several igniters over the years and nothing I've owned compares to the RCAT. The closest one I owned was the orange Radio South igniter. Not only is the RCAT light, small, I've owned it for 3 years and I don't think I even charged it 4 times. Battery is a internal Lipo which seems to last forever. It utilizes smart technology and will clear a flooded engine. It uses led lights for indication of glow plug service.

Ken,
Can you provide procurement information re: RCAT? I just googled and eBayed the acronym and find nothing related. I'd love a smaller, lighter package for this season's "short hop" days (er, hours).
TIA

Re: Cox Sure Starter
(edit) Welcome back Ice!
Note the battery installation instructions in the 2nd photo. Looks to be X3 D-cells in parallel.. (= 1.5V. DC) and a 4th one possibly for a separate circuit...? I don't have one of these.. so I can't see inside the case to confirm the circuitry. Don't exceed 1.5 V. DC for any glow-head/glow-plug connection.
