Best backplate\needle combo for bladder use?

Best backplateneedle combo for bladder use?
Well I'm hoping to find a readily available backplate and needle to use on bladders for this spring. I'd like to buy several back plates with needles..am I looking for killer bee stuff are they all the same taper and thread? Just looking to have a system that works and I have backups for crashes and such. Is there an off the shelf option or am I looking for unobtainable KK stuff? I have a possible solution to my postage stamp flood problem coming in the mail from Half A Dave (Big THANKYOU!) But for the future and engines I have on the bench I need a longer range solution. Id also like to get a KK for my TeeDee but for now it works if you get it on the EXACT click on the bladder its great one click either way and its not..

Re: Best backplate\needle combo for bladder use?
Hi Joel,
Post office clerk said your NVs should arrive today.
I included the backplate, which I do not need. I like the ones with screw holes...
Should get you going...
Back in the 70s, an old geezer (I mean experienced modeler ) showed me this 'trick' :
If your TD is one click/rich, next click/lean...
Rotate the 'springy thing that makes the needle click' a bit, and you can find the 'sweet spot'...
Might take a few tries, obviously NOT when the engine is running ! Works for me...
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Re: Best backplate\needle combo for bladder use?
Hi getback,
Thanks for those great fine NV links...interesting. Want to try a remote fine NV now !
I have never tried a pressure bladder. Question...
I get my reedy backplate .049 with the fineNV running on the bench.
Unpressurized balloon/bladder tank and get say, 14K rpms.
I try a pressurized bladder.
Obviously, I will need to close the NV or it will run too rich.
I dial it in.
Do I get an rpm increase?
By closing the NV, it seems the same amount of fuel gets into engine either way...
Just wondering,
Dave

Re: Best backplate\needle combo for bladder use?
Y ou will probably get the same rpm, but it will be even for the whole tank. It's a bit hard to start. Run off the prime and quickly open the needle probably a half turn or whatever it needs. You could also pinch the line with the needle opened a bit and let go of the pinched line after it runs off the prime. Some guys use hemostats, or a small to medium line connector that slides up to pinch the line. Those office flat spring clamps can work too. If it is too rich and floods out, it may be a bit hard to start again. Works well with two guys that know what to do, but some guys do it well on their own squeezing the tub with the thumb. I really don't like bladders, but once they are proven to get a good setting, then you can open the venturi and get more power, and add nitro, and a smaller prop, and less head space, ......HalfaDave wrote:Hi getback,
