Well almost. I could add wing struts. Might. Might not.
Installed the painted props and spinners. Franklin Mint SBD Dauntless for perspective. 1/48 scale and about twice as heavy as the .010 triplane.
BTW, I will run the .049 around a circle sometime this Spring. Promise. Maybe even the .020. But never the .010.

Very nice, a Triple set of Tri-motors! Way a great way to display your Cox motors. HEY? Do you have to pull that mug out of the case every morning, or do you have one for display and one for drinking coffee?

Nice set of planes, Bob. I thought before I clicked that the thread was on say, a Fokker Dr-1 or Sopwith Triplane. Now I see that it is a "Tri-Engine Biplane". I bet if a bellcrank control system was installed with right length lines, they'd probably fly quite well off an ice field by control line.

I bought three Rene, one for me, one for Mark, and one to display. The cup pictured in my "Good Morning" post was Marks, a picture that he sent me.
Thanks Andras, fun builds that cost me nothing, materials on hand.
Tri's and Bi's Geroge, I love them and have more than my fair share. But as an old Navy fella I have been captured by the Dauntless. Gave me a chance to learn things about them that I never knew. All of my models lead me that way.
I got this Franklin Mint Marine Pre-war "Yellow tail" today. Detail is incredible. Wall hangars, out where I can see them.
Cockpit of the full scale had a pull-out chart table requiring a shorter than normal control stick making control difficult. Pilot and gunner had to use a nasal spray when they went into a 70 degree dive to keep their ears from popping. No G suits back then. Dual machine guns each side.

Back in 1972 as a 02J Clarinet Player just out of Basic, I learned a few things about Navy life being stationed at the Naval Amphibious Base, a part of NAVPHIBLANT (Naval Amphibious forces Atlantic) for 6 months (26 weeks) at U.S. Army Element, Naval School of Music, Little Creek (Virginia Beach), VA. (Now, they have separated programs from a composite school of Navy, Marine and Army musicians to a separate, more abbreviated 10 week course of Army only, same base. Navy/Marine maintain their own program.)
I never saw so much un-lacquered brass in a facility in my life that required constant Brasso'ing. And, the "time for bed" announcement over the barracks PA system at night, "Taps, taps, the time is 2200. All lights out, the smoking lamp is not lit." (or, something to that effect, shoot, it was 50 years ago! i.e., minimize light use for others sleeping, no smoking permitted.)

Wow, they maintained realism down to the dog eared edges and water stains of the map on the table! The detailing is incredible, as you say, Bob, even down to the sun faded paint with dust on the plane's instrument panel top and something in the top right cubby spot.
I thought it interesting that the explanation given for the pre-WW2 yellow wings was for visibility when they lost a plane. The yellow helped them to spot the plane (or wreckage) during search and rescue.

Re: Cox .010 Triplane finished
A couple of years ago I visited the beautiful Shenandoah Park in Virginia with my wife, and at a vista point we walked in the forest a bit. There were notice boards here and there warning about the presence of "nuisance black bears" around. Had I known that a "nuisance black bear" native to the Virginias is the size in your photo, Bob, we would have just passed by the vista point in the safety of our rental car... boy, this critter could definitely do more harm than just what the euphemistic adjective "Nuisance" suggests...

Dauntless pulled up from the bottom of Lake Michigan, restored and hanging in the Smithsonian.
Big bear Andras, had one in my back yard last summer, looked like a black refrigerator moving along.
Boot camp only George. Red glow of the night light, fire watch patrolling with muffled footsteps.
