Two Roy Cox Champions - a day early
From a prior thread.
Looks like the Cameron is missing the whole needle valve assembly including the spray bar, also the intakes trumpet. Dig into it tomorrow.
It appears the engineless car was whipped a bit and toppled over. Scarring on top and bottom. Glad that some kid had fun with it.

“I have TWO ROY COX THIMBLE DROME CHAMPIONS SELLING AS A PAIR. One with .19 motor and the other without. Rare yellow. # 63 (no motor) looks all original and in good shape except for paint as of age and usage at one time. Good rubber and wheels move easily. The #6 Yellow car with motor I believe has been reconditioned (who knows how long ago) but looks GREAT!!! Motor not tested ( do not know if it will run) but motor is there and rest looks all original. Rubber is good and tires turn as they should. Here is a chance to own BOTH cars one with motor and one without. Of course these cars are Champions..Made in Santa Ana Calif. I am not a expert or business so I took as many pics I am allowed and will be happy to answer any questions I can. Thanks Bob”

Re: Two Roy Cox Champions - a day early
Bob, my buddy had a beautiful black example. He insisted on running it. His had the Cameron .19. A bit problematic as the plug kept cooling off needing more nitro. I provided him with what he needed and it was still problematic. He actually made a battery pack to keep the plug lit. Nonetheless, the car would hit a bump and go airborne flipping end for end. I told him several times the car needs lead in the bottom. He can't take advice so he kept running it over and over. In his mind he thinks it will fix itself if he keeps running it. I told him I could just smash it with the sledge hammer and get it over quick rather than watch it die a slow death.

I have had a couple of Enya's that fit that sledge hammer bit. "I have cleaned you proper, you have fire, compression, and fuel.....why ain't you running!!!!!!!!"
Life I guess.
Where can I find a NVA that would work?

Re: Two Roy Cox Champions - a day early
Debated awhile before deciding to paint the bottom of the engineless Roy Cox. Didn't really want to, thought about leaving it as the kid finished playing with it. But..........I visited the well-diminished paint department at Walmart this morning and found this "Patriotic Blue" which matches the original quite well.
Took a lot of fine file work, 220/400 grit wet or dry to eliminate most of the scars. Brass axles and end caps, and real hardware inside. Yup, Armor-all on the tires and Pledge on the body. Had to replace one round-head case screw.

Pretty good job on the paint match Bob. Looks like your eyes are still pretty sharp. Might as well paint the topside too.
The paint availability sucks here as well.

Thanks Eric, your a whole lot smarter than I am. I had searched MECOA's site and all I could come up with was the needle not the spray bar.
I took it apart yesterday, First oh, oh - the rear wheels just spun, no compression no nothing, second oh, oh - something is missing.
Solved the no compression problem. Acorn nuts were on finger tight. No cogs on the axle or wheels, just a tapered axle with a friction fit. Right hand threads on the right axle.
Heat gun and a razor blade saved all the gaskets. Interesting domed piston and intakes.
Put it back together for now. Plenty of compression. When I get the NVA and fashion a fuel tank I'll run the thing.
