Re: Let's Go Fly a Kite...
Really nice kite patterned after the real people carrying one, excellent workmanship, Robert.
Your experience with the RM and .35 on monofilament is a repeat of mine several years ago with my RM and Testors .35 Red Head.
I bought bulk line off the 'bay line from China claiming to be Dynema. Well, Dynema 60 lb. test it wasn't. Although of cloth-like rope-like appearance, it was as stretchy as yours. Stretching unevenly, I had very little down elevator. Holding it completely down, it was flying very high on 60' making a very tight circle of may be 2 second laps. The RM with 3 oz. tank for the Red Head, which is a reasonably economical engine, had me going for about 5 minutes. I finally was able to successfully land it without serious damage, but tremendously dizzy and pumped full of adrenolin took me about 10 - 15 minutes to calm down, lying on the runway ground. (I was by myself at the time, used a stooge to take off.
Since, I have learned to only buy from reputable US sources. So much for my bulk reel of the "bargain" stuff.
