IOS app for rpms?

IOS app for rpms?
I see comments from folks posting engine speeds from phone apps. What is a good ios app for this? One I found that looked like it was for exactly this doesn’t work on my iphone or ipad. Giri for instance just randomly responds with random numbers whether it hears an engine or not. Others want $ so before I pay, what actually works?

Re: IOS app for rpms?
I tried the Giri app too with mixed luck. Maybe the rpm gauge is better. I used a guitar tuner before and then used a chart to get the conversion to rpm. Each octave doubles or halves the rpm, so you have to take that into account too. Your 20,000 rpm may not really be 40,000, LOL. You need to average the rpm when the plane is going towards you or away. On a control line plane, the tuner can be inside the circle to get an accurate reading with no doppler effect.

And I totally forgot about doppler! I fly larger scale aerobatics mostly and doppler still messes with me on rolling circles to this day. I can see that really messing with this idea.
About the android app, is it a paid app? I haven’t even put a droid on the charger in a couple of years but if it’s cheap I might blow the dust off of it.

The android app RPM Gauge is free. I am not sure what Android operation system is the oldest on which it still runs..I have used it already way back with my Samsung 7 phone i.e. 4 years ago as far as I remember,

Re: IOS app for rpms?
It would be almost worth it to get a ’droid just because of the tach app
Many inexpensive Androids have really good camera and a huge amount of RAM compared to iProducts. I have had a company phone for many years, and currently it’s an iPhone. To this date I have bought exactly one cell phone for my own use with my own money, it was a Nokia 3000-something in 2002 when I was in a ”between jobs” type of situation for a few months. So, me spending money on a smartphone would be a small step for mankind, giant leap for a man
My younger son has an Android phone, maybe I could get that when he upgrades the next time Anyone know if a phone could be used as a tach, decibel meter, level, camera etc without the SIM card and monthly fees? Data transfer via Wi-Fi only?
A phone that never rings, what a concept! Not that mine rings that often anyway

Should be more than fine Kari. We use our old phone as just that for playing games and storing music.
