The price of glowplugs
Am I seeing a bad trend? Mecoa is selling OEM looking glowplugs for $45 for 3 and shipping on eBay.
I hope I just need glasses. Otherwise, I need to look into several head conversions!

Re: The price of glowplugs
I guess they can ask what they want for them. I wouldn’t pay that personally. If I were you I would start looking into RC swap meets. I pick up NIP glow heads all the time for 1970’s prices and less.

Re: The price of glowplugs
This is what I do,
Doug Galbreath Freeflight
Go to Doug’s site. Order the Nelson plug head for the .049. $13.00. Order as many Nelson plugs as you think you’ll need. $5.00
The bonus is that the Nelson plug will usually increase available revs. More shims/gaskets are likely required.

Re: The price of glowplugs
This is a note Randy has now included on the Mecoa website. The price rise will obviously filter through to all manufacturers eventually.
Alert!!! Rhodium cost is skyrocketing from
$2400.00 per oz a year ago, to $14,000.00 per oz in March

Re: The price of glowplugs
Do we know where the rhodium is being sourced and what may have changed there between now and a year ago (before this COVID-19 stuff of course)? Have there been any new industries or uses that we know of?
Re: The price of glowplugs
Thanks for the input, Guys.
I was thinking about KamTeknik (I think that's his name) heads and a stack of plugs. But if the catalyst is driving the cost, then even those plugs will become expensive.
I've been borderline hording glow engines over the last year or so.
Ouch...It may be time to go leckie!

Re: The price of glowplugs
I call BS on the reason for the price increase for glow plugs. Here are 6 month charts for the prices of Rhodium and Platinum prices per oz. Yes it did spike up but is lower now than when it spiked up. I highly doubt he bought a spool of wire in March.
More examples of fleecing the consumer:
Have you seen the price of a box of corn flakes go down in the store since December? You should have.
How about the tub of oatmeal?
\
Here's the real kick in the pants to the american farmer. Live cattle weight price per lb. Have you seen burger and steaks go down in price lately? The packers raised the box price on beef all the while the farmer was getting taken to the cleaners.

Re: The price of glowplugs
The filament materials are expensive, no doubt, but as Jason stated the prices have historically fluctuated. Can only speak for ourselves but there are no current plans to alter pricing.
Re: The price of glowplugs
The price of gas is way down due to collapsed economy low demand and the Russia-Saudi peeing contest. Not to worry though, it will be an opportune time to slip a carbon tax in. There's so much hoaxing, gouging, power grabbing, and wealth stripping going on as we speak it boggles the imagination. I won't post any "deplorable" links so folks won't feel compelled to break out their denunciatory smelling salts and fainting couches.

RE: The price of glowplugs
Tico and Jason,
You are right beyond contradiction.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange ( CME) and the London Metals Exchange are so corrupt and rigged that they make Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the Indian Casinos look like a bunch of ten year old kids tossing quarters at a line where closest wins all !!!
Steve....
