Record low price?

Record low price?
Someone got themselves a sweet deal. Heck, the starter kit in there retails for $35 by itself. That means a free engine and a free chopper

Re: Record low price?
It all depends on whose bidding at that moment. Can’t see that being a real desirable collectors piece.
$30 shipping is a big pill to swallow too. In reality the buyer paid $53 plus tax to get it to their door. Everyone loses on that deal.

Shipping costs put me off many times too. A difficult pill to swallow when it matches the products cost.
Yard sales and flea markets are the way to go. Mark finds many for me at $20 or less with no shipping charges.
Don't know what good they are, darn things just sit. Give me a busted up old balsa airplane with a nasty glow engine any day. Something I can dig into and restore.

Bob, wouldn’t it be fun to take all your choppers outside, fuel them up and see how many you can get up in the air simultaneously

Fortunately Bob has that ATV, makes refueling and re-starts much easier, never know where those choppers land

Next time we will completely part the bird and sell all the parts individually. The last time we did this, we ended up getting over $120. We were hoping to get more than that (as we have in the past) but it was not to be
In regards to shipping, it's actual cost. As the package dimensions exceed 90cm for all three sides we cannot send it for $10 with "Small Packet Air"; hence have to use "Expedited Parcel".

Wow! Cox really made some way cool stuff in a really nerdy sort of era. I work at the extreme end of aerospace engineering and research, and come from that period in time myself and I just so love the 'toys' Cox were making then. I know there is other great stuff for kids now, but the models and cars, planes, boats, choppers,..... that Cox made when it was at the top of its game is incredible. Almost like anything that could take an 049 or such was a possibility!
Cheers,
Gary

Re: Record low price?
After eBay and Paypal fees, combined with the $5 hit we took on shipping, we ended up with a whopping $15 for the thing; less than we charge for a single cylinder/piston set.
Oh well, we don't complain about our auctions that go really high either, like $85 for a Cox Dragster parachute.

By comparison, this one went for over double the price, NO engine, no box https://www.ebay.com/itm/224322988599

No box either, but Mark found this one for $5.00 if I remember correctly, but it may have been $15.
Think of all the landfills throughout the world that are full of this stuff. Flown once crashed and thrown away.

Re: Record low price?
There’s probably millions of Cox engines in landfills. What was the final production numbers? Something like 30 million engines.
