Silver Cox Mercedes
I was going to put this into my post on rsv1cox's cabinet thread, but I didn't want to hijack it.
Did you paint the Mercedes silver. I have always wondered why Cox sold this marvelous "Silver Arrow" in red. I have a nice one to restore and am really thinking of painting it silver as Sterling Moss raced it. I don't ever intend to sell it and would enjoy it far more as a Silver Arrow.

Yes, I casually painted it. No primer and Kryon rattle can. Not proud of it. It was my second worst example so I wasn't concerned but I did paint it inside and out. A good 10 footer.
I have a much nicer one that I have thought about having some pro do it in an automotive enamel.
Me too. These are stunning in silver. Some restored full scale W-196's can bring tears to my eyes.
For all it's shortcomings Cox put a lot of effort into it. Engine up front, driveline with differential, working suspension, pivoting hood with release, seat with correct appearing upholstery, correctly marked front and rear tires designed to slip until traction is achieved, driver, 15' cable with spindle, and killer good looks.
The boxes tell a story too. Accessories, etc.
