Cox addresses
Ok Guys any of you got an idea what dates Cox occupied the buildings we have printed on the boxes of our
various products?
Can we co oberate any of this without perhaps having to 'rely' on the few bits on tinterweb.
As great as the sites are, there are at best glaring omissions, gaps, confusion and potentially
lots of room for inacuracy.
I think magazine articles and Ads would be a very good source of this info.
This would be a great way to reference what was made when.
As per Dans previous thread re red/black 010's we would perhaps be able to pin point when the changes were made
to various products more acurately.
I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, what chance have I got to acurately date different toys I might have bought a quarter or perhaps (some of you) half a century ago?

The red and gold .010s came in the jewel box or the bubble box.
The black ones came in the cardboard black or estes plastic clip box.
Re: Cox addresses
There was a stop in production for about 10 years on the TD 010. I remember when they were brought back on the market in the late 80's. They came in the cardboard box and were black with silver crankcase. I bought one new back then for $45. Used it on a Comet Piper Cub as free flight. I called it my 50 dollar flying bill because that's what the total cost was.

Re: Cox addresses
This is my point entirely.
This is just one aspect of one engine that there is lacking info on.
I've read many times that the cystal case finished in 1976 now is that correct or just another popular 'truism'?
We've all got them tucked away and some how all this info is still available (probably)
why can't we have a section here perhaps that documents age and provenance.
But not cos "My mate Spike say's he once knew someone who used to visit
someone who once bought an engine in the 50's or was it the 20's"....... and then because it's on the internet it must be true.
If these were cars of anything else people collected I think the faithfull would ensure more accurate record keeping instead of having to refer to 3 or 4 cut and pasted websites some of which don't even attempt to look as though they've been written by anyone different.
I've got engines in boxes with date stamps on them, some guys I'm sure must have old mags with Ads in them,
perhaps there are some invoices floating about I don't know, what do you guys think?

Re: Cox addresses
But wouldn't it be nice if we had certainty listed on a section of the site?

almost finished
My point is shouldn't we have a section where each of us is able to show that (for example) at East Warner Ave in May 1990 a black and Silver 010 was made, here is the photo of the stamped box to prove.
I think these are an important piece of history and we have the ability to nail it down otherwise give it 30 more years and
the kids collecting them will scratch their heads and say '"f only they had kept better records".
