Wanted to Buy: GHQ Parts
I've had good luck here, so I thought I would try it again.
Does anyone have a complete needle valve assembly for a GHQ.
It's a long shot, i know.

Re: Wanted to Buy: GHQ Parts
The GHQ was one of the worst engines ever made. It was an offshoot of the Loutrel, which was a pretty good engine. The GHQ was a flawed copy. It was maketed as the "Aero .51". It was available during WW2, that's why there are so many of them. It was sold by America's Hobby Center in NYC.
Strangely, the worst engine ever made is a collector's item.

Re: Wanted to Buy: GHQ Parts
I just checked Aero Electric's website. They do not show a GHQ NVA. I think that Woody knew He was dying, and did not replenish His stock of parts.
After I bought the Orwick timer, the description was deleted from the online catalogue by his son. (I Guess)
I must be cheap; I buy incomplete engines and then spend forever searching for parts to complete them! (LOL)

Re: Wanted to Buy: GHQ Parts
That is a early 1936 or 1937 Ohlsson . The exhaust is backwards ( large end towards front ) and on the wrong side as well as the intake . 1936 had Ohlsson on front crank case cover , 1937 cylinder mounting flange was enlarged to match crankcase . Exhaust on left side ,intake below exhaust . A very cool 80year old engine . Info from 1996 Anderson's Blue Book .

Re: Wanted to Buy: GHQ Parts
It's strange to be talking about antique engines on the Cox forum.
Roy Cox just about destroyed all the .049 manufacturers when he came out with his line of 1/2a stuff. He had brand new machinery and air gauges. His stuff was well designed and extremely well made. The other manufacturers had old machine shop equipment, and older designs. OK Cub had a jillion engines left laying around; no one would buy them! Wenmac/Testor's survived longer than anyone else of the old time 1/2a stuff.
