Re: The Cars are the Stars Contest.
Thanks Eric that’s a very generous offer.
So, it looks like this contest is a go. Let’s start building.
To keep interest going I am going to bump this from time to time and ask for updates. For your part I would ask that if anyone is building something, please post a build thread.

Re: The Cars are the Stars Contest.
I'd like to enter, but i don't seem to fit in Stock, Modified, or Open. A Cox built vehicle with 'other' manufacture powerplant.
I guess that means i'm building an "Outlaw" class Police Car? So there's now a contender for "Worst Place" and ''Dishonorable Mention"!

I’ll allow it in modified. Even though it states Cox powered.

205 mph is fast.
Does anyone know what the world axle driven speed record is for the TD .049?

Re: The Cars are the Stars Contest.
I got the three categories, Stock, Modified, and open. But is this strictly a speed event or are there categories within the three?
Speed -Fastest
Most innovative
Best home built
Best original
Etc.

Post Cribbs74 on Tue Dec 11, 2018 7:07 pm Below the rules as discussed between Mark and Lieven: 1) vehicle driving on land and gas powered by a Cox engine (from .010 TD to .15 Conquest) 2) Propeller driven or axle driven 3) 3 categories: Stock - Cox production cars w/accessories i.e. Cox gas powered car track, fuel cans, packaging etc. Modified - Cox production cars with customized body/engine. with Cox engine power. Open class - home built, scratch built, other makes than Cox with Cox engine power. 4) One entry and category submitted per contestant. All categories are show or run. One winner per category by voting. 5) I set a delay at 6 months. That means that entries will be posted on a thread opened on let's say 1 June 2019. 6) Each entry consists of 2 pictures: 1 of the car and 1 of the chassis and engine. For prop driven cars, where the engine is in most cases exposed, the second picture can be a different angle or detail. A video with the car running is a bonus. A back story about the car, owner and where the picture was taken can be added. There could be a building or restoration thread during wintertime. wrote:

So it's not just a speed contest. Somehow I got the idea it was all about speed. Read something into the rules I guess.
Thanks - Bob

No, it's a run what you got contest. Circle, straight line tether, free roam, R/C, DC as long as it's Cox powered or I guess a Cox product. Long time to May 1, maybe it will evolve. ???
Someone in the know will chime in.

Hey people, This is a car show. Cars can be shown running or static. It's not a race. However adding a drag race at a later date wouldn't be a bad idea. Mark

Re: The Cars are the Stars Contest.
As Mark said it’s show or run or both etc. There isn’t any speed event.
So, if you feel like submitting just a picture or a picture and a video of your car running either or both works.
I think the rules as written are clear, but if something is confusing let me know and I can re-word it for clarity.

If it's a pretty car, take lots of pics.
If it's a fast car, take lots of pics, and post videos of your blur.
Besides, how do you bench-race these over the internet? Find a Radar gun, light Traps, overhead video across stripes at set distance?

Re: The Cars are the Stars Contest.
Lol. There is no race!
I know this is outside the norm of CEF. Normally we go for broke in tach races, but in this case we may be dealing with valuable cars. Of course judging may be swayed if you run your rare Cox car or something you spent a lot of time building.
Pull out your man cards and ante up!

If we were racing it would be timed laps at a specified line length.
