Cox cylinder
I was wondering what engines this cylinder came on. Cant find out much about it. Its a sub-induction cylinder, 2 bypass with 1 boost per bypass and the top exhaust port
is smaller then the bottom. It has a 1 on it.

Wikipedia site says black widow pre '96 and Medallion. Yours has slits though.....

Re: Cox cylinder
Well it is a late number 1 cylinder.
not sure what it came on as it is not mentioned on the table.

Re: Cox cylinder
The way the piston fits it seems to be tapered, but not sure.

I guess slit exhausts are a later post '96 type thing. Tapered fits are usually found on the TD no?

Re: Cox cylinder
Upon further review, apart from the numbering it has all the attributes of a '96 killer bee to include the taper grind.

Re: Cox cylinder
It sounds and looks like you have a Killer Bee cylinder. It is tapered? A Killer Bee cylinder is a 2 bypass, 1 boost port on each bypass, top fin milled, has SPI, has tapered grind. I have no idea why it has a #1 on it. I have seen a mix of different numbers stamped on slit cylinders and post Estes cylinders (you may have a post Estes cylinder).

Re: Cox cylinder
Unless there are some very early slit cylinders I don't know about, a slit cylinder doesn't "have" SPI. It's only the piston skirt height that makes the set SPI, not the cylinder. In other words, if a slit cylinder set has a non-SPI piston, it's non SPI. If the same cylinder has an SPI piston, then it is SPI. Maybe some early slit sets were made with lower exhaust ports, but they wouldn't work well with a short piston from the newer SPI sets.

Re: Cox cylinder
Here is another oddity I found in my stack of stuff, piston with swirls in the top. Came on a Black Widow.

Re: Cox cylinder
That is weird. I have seen something like that somewhere. It was a long time ago (for me at least). Around the time I got my first engine and was researching how to use it.

Can you take a picture of the inside of the piston, that design is commonly seen on lightened pistons. Did it come with that cylinder? My friend used my killer bee cylinder and piston with his black widow for his winter comps, worked well but he somewhat messed up my set.
