The reason for no SPI is so it can run with a muffler. SPI + Muffler = poor performance.

Just to be clear, any engine, with or without SPI, will develop more power without a muffler. But in a situation when you must use a muffler, it should go on a non SPI engine for best performance.
So what I'm saying is, don't rush out and get a muffler just because the engine is non-SPI.
Does that make sense to you?

And if you tuna throttle ring I recommend SPI as you will get a lower idle.

Tuna? Eck! Very Happy coughautocorrectcough

Will SPI help lower idle with a throttle/muffler combo?
