Re: 7.2 ni cad batteries
Prices are all over the place on Amazon.. but this AA 1800mAh Ni-Mh pack is $5.48 with free shipping. Your photo looks like a AA configured pack.. which is what I searched (link below)
Amazon offering
Your thread title references Ni-cad.. but I went by your photo which is a NiMh pack. They're the same 1.2V/cell technology.. except the NiMh doesn't develop the "memory-effect" that Ni-cads have. You're better off with a NiMh pack.

Re: 7.2 ni cad batteries
Any luck? Curious as to what the pack will power.. My packs are all flat-configured.
Re: 7.2 ni cad batteries
I am making my own packs... as soon as my tab cells arrive. I am after 1/3AAA 4 or 5 cell for a discus launch glider.
This is not my first time making packs. It is easy if you can get tab batteries, I don't like soldering direct to the battery.

I was going to recommend "building" a pack.. but $5.48 for a AA 1800 pack with Tamiya connector attached is hard to beat. Depending on the application.. x2 AA 3.7V Lithium-ion cells would really lighten up a pack for a small model.. but the voltage of two cells in series is 7.4V as opposed to 7.2V for a 6S-cell NiCd/NiMh pack. A BEC speed controller rated for 8.4V or higher, shouldn't have an issue.
Re: 7.2 ni cad batteries
That price is hard to beat.
If you bought a gross of tab batteries it might bring the price down enough to be quite competitive. With the sub aaa battery I need a pre-made 4.8 or 6v pack is unobtanium! That I just need a servo connector doesn't change anything - they don't exist! Also AAA and AA tab cells can be had for about a dollar, while I am forced to pay almost $3 per cell! (and I did spend a couple days searching around, ebay, etc)
Today I learned that I can be stupid sometimes. I called the LHS and asked, he has flat AAA 2 cell packs, so I loaded 4 AAA batteries into the nose of my glider from my drawer and found
a : they barely fit
b : 4 AAA batteries create an unreasonable nose heavy condition.
c : all things being equal 1/3 aaa will be perfect, 2/3aaa might be workable.
d : I should have exercised this concept prior to ordering and I would have NOT ordered any sub AA cells, and only sub AAA cells.
So I spent a few dollar more than I needed. I guess I'll be fine. I might have some extra batteries to sell too.
