Re: Pink Floyd. Fans
I don't think stamps are gonna do it for me. I can just look at my album covers if I want to see pictures of album covers.
There was a show out here recently called "The Pink Floyd Experience". Should have gone. They say they do a pretty authentic job of the stage show. I went to a concert during their last Aussie tour in the 80s. Absolutely mind blowing. Couldn't top that with a tribute band. Ah, the memories

Surprised they didn't have "The Wall" stamp.
Sadly a band I never got to see live and never will.

Ron, I remember the day the Wall became available at the local record shop. The line was blocks long. The store had it's windows covered to resemble The Wall album cover. The only other time I recalled that kind of stir was the release of Peter Frampton's Comes Alive album. Ken

Roger Waters came to my hometown last year. Did the complete "Wall" from start to finish, live. It was so very well done, awesome. My eldest son, who went with me, convinced me to go, said Dad, you'd better go, he may not go on tour again. I coulda bought all the albums as new CD's for the price of the ticket. I'm glad I went.
One local radio station brought in or promoted " Brit Floyd " in concert. Heard it was as real as it could be to the originals. Saw a short version of the show on the local public tv station. Was channel surfing, and came across it. I thought it WAS Pink Floyd, until the announcer introduced them as Brit Floyd.
Here's my favorite screen saver:

Why on earth do you like that screen saver?
Ken, I too remember when it came out, I have a sister that is 8yrs older than me and she went and bought it when it came out. I couldn't appreciate the music at 6yrs old, but surely did when I was 16

Re: Pink Floyd. Fans
I remember a friend of mine got a copy of the newly-released Animals and we all went around to another friend's house because his dad had just bought one of those fancy "stereos". Prior to this I'd only heard pop songs on the radio and my only albums were Top 20 compilations, and oh yeah, Neil Diamond's Hot August Night. I'd never heard anything like it. I was hooked. I begged & begged my Mum to buy me Animals & got it for my 15th birthday. If only she knew what she was starting
At 16 I was working in a garage as my first job and there was an electrical store down the street, so I would wander down & browse through the records at lunch time, where I found Wish You Were Here, with the iconic "Man on Fire" on the cover. It was marked down so I bought it. It also contained the posters but was missing the postcard, which I found out later. It's still my favorite.
Not long after I was servicing a young local student teacher's car and it had an eight track of Dark Side of the Moon, which I subsequently played while doing the service. Wow I had avoided this album because my "purist" friends said Pink Floyd had sold out to commercialism with this album. I avoided it no longer and continue to expand my collection, going backwards in time. I stopped at about Atom Heart Mother because the early stuff was getting just a bit too weird for my liking. I then jumped forward to The Wall, but even though I liked it, Roger Waters' style was becoming all a little too dark for me. I must say, the guitar solo on Comfortably Numb I still consider the greatest solo of all time. After that, they lost me (The Final Cut???), at least until Roger Waters left & they started getting back to the style I could relate to. I saw them on their "Momentry Lapse of Reason" tour, which was a great album & got back to their mid-70s style. The concert was just unbelievable for its time. The multi-channel sound, computerized lighting and special effects were unprecidented. I don't think I've enjoyed a concert as much since.

Re: Pink Floyd. Fans
Wow. They are always at the top of my list when I talk about bands I've never seen. That and the time I turned down a chance to see the Who on the last tour before Kieth Moon died. It was a hundred dollars and 70 miles away. Seems like overly dumb reasons for skipping it now. I could have seen the Stones right here in Columbia for Steel Wheels. Not quite sure why I skipped that one, but it was at a time when my young family was enduring busy times.

Re: Pink Floyd. Fans
I saw the Wall at Earls Court, London - seems along time ago now.
Time flies this was the last concert I went to - eat your hearts out boys - it was free and I had permission to park my motorbike at BMW in Park Lane. Next door to the concert and only 10 minutes ride from my home.
As it was a G8 concert - not all the audience had even heard of Pink Floyd. This was also broadcast live on TV. Floyd sales went through the roof in the following days. They shone!
Most people had seen a band who played and as talented as this

I saw Animals and The Wall in Los Angeles. They were big stuff, as one might think. One of them had a P-51 and a Staggerwing, another is a Ferrari expert, mechanic and collector. Love guys with good hobbies.

Re: Pink Floyd. Fans
Yes the Rock from Pink Floyd is truly amazing, Thanks Ian I am sure that was a great concert to be able to attend . No Floyd here in my parts but AC/DC is in Greensboro 15 miles from me , August 27th with Axle Rose as singer with I don't care that much for mainly because of his attitude he has had in the past and probably still does .. if you want to suffer through it https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=ac/dc+with+axl+rose I think he is up and walking now !
