Re: Spruce Goose (8 x .010s!)
I first got to watch the Goose sit and rot for a bit out at Evergreen for a few years before they got the money together to build the museum. 3 separate very long parking tents, one for each wing and one for the fuselage. Then I watched them construct the museum that it is now hangar'd it. Now they have a space museum next to the Goose museum.
Mom and Pops went down and seen the Goose at Long Beach,CA when it was in that big dome.
Very nice little RC flying field on the same property behind both museums, and at one point they had a CL circle and quite a few guys flew CL there. But the circle was dozed over to make room for the space museum or parking.
It's an engineering marvel, well worth the trip for the visit,,and bring a RC plane. So long as you have AMA and ask nicely they will let you fly. There is or was a donation box for the RC field.
The Realfight simulator has the old Evergreen Aviation RC field to fly on, when they flew on a old abandoned runway section.

One question if I have a BMFA membership but not an AMA becuase I am not a US citizen does that mean I cannot fly?

You'll have to check into the by-laws. (read the unreadable fine print)
There are folks that fly overseas that come to the US shows and fly all the time. Just have to do some research.

You need an AMA card to fly at AMA sanctioned flying sites/events.
It also is insurance if your model damages something/somebody.
Re: Spruce Goose (8 x .010s!)
ya, the ama is a very good idea, i dont fly anywhere if i cant find my ama card

Which used to be the SMAE, but someone thought "Society of Model Aeronautical Engineers" would be too high-brow for todays fliers, or they wouldn't understand such big words, or something. Everything gets dumbed down these days.
