Re: A.C. Gilbert Wing Thing
When AC Gilbert went belly-up some of the Wing Things engines were salvaged and sold. The engines were literally broken off the airframe and the rest apparently discarded. Engines were put in plastic bags (some not assembled) and sold off (by Polk's if I remember correctly). Here is a pic of some of them. Two bags of engines in parts had crankshafts that were not finished (still aren't). Here is a pic of the rest. The two with spring starters were from the Wing Things and came complete with pieces of plastic and screws still on the mounting lugs.
Oh, the Gilbert .11 at the top I bought at a yard sale. A Fox .15 steel fin thrust washer and prop screw works on it. After running the .11, those parts were returned to the Fox.
