What's Better than a stooge for launching?
Forgive me if this has been presented before. A search did not turn up results.
How about self-launching? The simple solutions are the best. To wit:
Anybody tried this with a gas engine plane?

Re: What's Better than a stooge for launching?
There’s always the two stooge launch.
Find two people stooging round the park and ask them if they’d like help you launch your plane. Most people are very willing to help. Have one stooge stand on the shoulders of the other facing the direction of flight and hand the top stooge the plane with engine running. When you’re ready give the nod to the bottom stooge who as previously instructed will begin to fall forward. When they have reached approx 45 degrees the top stooge will release the plane as he will need both hands to break his fall. Your plane should now be airborne and a couple of low passes is recommended here to ensure the stooges roll clear of the landing area.
Happy flying.

I would think the "Three Stooge" stooge would be foolproof, or was that fuel proof? One to watch, one to hold, and one to pick up the pieces.
I do like the vid of that spool method. It seems like it'd work with glow powered engines.

Thanks Davenz, the 2 stooge launch is quite common knowledge in these parts and of course I tried that, and it works fine The problem is often there are no people to persuade to help at my flying field. :-)

The best stooges I've used are my flying buddies, but they hate to be called stooges. Sometimes they won't even launch if I call them a stooge. Go figure.

No wonder, especially if their names happen to be Larry, Curly and Moe
