Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
Anybody have an old JETEX 50 with original mount that they are willing to sell?

Do you have pellets, wicks, and screens? I've been searching for some myself. The Powermax fuel pellets are not compatible with Jetex like I thought. I think they're the coolest thing to see in use. Ken

Don't have the fuel, etc.....just have a project in mind that will likely just be a display piece.

Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
Is this the type you want?
I have one somewhere & I think it's like this one. I'd have to search. Not 100% sure I want to part with it as it has sentimental value, but I doubt I will ever do anything with it & probably should move it on to someone who needs it. Let me know if this is what you want and I'll report my search findings. Won't happen today. Over 105° out there.

Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
I've gotta find it first. Have a tin of fuel pellets as well but probably can't ship them to you from "deep in the heart of" Down Under. Postage cost shouldn't be too bad as it's only light. Hopefully the authorities won't detect any explosive residue.
I'm positive it still has its mount and original mounting screws. My late brother had it attached to the belly of a profile balsa jet. Not sure what the plane was but I'd recognize it if I saw it. I do recall that the fuse was a pain to thread through and would rarely ignite the pellets.
Make me a reasonable offer (I have no idea, but had thought about ebaying it). I'll locate it and PM you some pictures first before you make your final determination. I recall it's in good condition, although some of the cad plating has gone. Won't know more 'til I locate it.
Think this could be the plane, or something like it. It's been nearly 40 years.

Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
Indeed you had to use small wire to keep the hole clear. The main problem with the Jetex was the metal housing would quench the fuse when it got up to the hole. The trick was to use a lighter and really heat the base prior to lighting the fuse. Not an easy task if your mount was on the underside of the fuse. You ended up setting the plane on fire. They fascinated me then and they still do. What a cool idea. It would love to see them return. I have the Jetex Psst 50 which used a aluminum body and a aluminum clip but they shared the same fuel pellets. Ken

Hi Rod That looks a bit like a English Electric Canberra. Early ones had a rounded fin and rudder. Would make sense your brother doing one of those as both our air forces had them down under.

I'm not sure how common Veron models were in Australia, but the one pictured is a Veron Seahawk. It looks very familiar to me, although I don't remember the name Veron from my youth. It wouldn't surprise me if the one I recall was a Keil Kraft as they were very common, second only to Aeroflyte out here. I can say for certain it wasn't an Aeroflyte. I don't recall ever seeing it fly & recall my brother's frustration trying to get the Jetex to fire.

You know I really should stop relying on my memory and check up on things first
Went to the books and there it is, Hawker Seahawk

Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
So that's what that is. The one I have is missing the mount, is clean as a whistle, and came in a lot of misc. C/L stuff.
This fellow has a few for auction on ebay:

I just bought a OK Cub engine from him and he offered to hold the sale if I was going to buy something else and he would combine shipping. Nice fellow.

The motors that he has are Jet-X (instead of Jetex). The Jet-X are a newer release but same concept. Thanks for the tip though.

Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
We have a new in box Jetex 600 Scorpion with sealed fuel pellets and other parts which we could sell.
Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
Bernie, That's a cool motor! Its bigger than I need for my project though and it would probably be a shame to remove it from the original package. Regards, Darron

Re: Wanted: JETEX 50 motor
Hi Darren, I still have that JETEX motor on my mind. Slipped on ice and messed up my back and arm, might be a while before I can climb the stairs to the loft to find it, but I'm sure that it's there.

Hi Bernie
If Darron doesn't want it I'm very interested in the Jetex.
