Wings just need covering - long protracted decision. Constantly resisting my covering with red fetish!

Couldn't make my mind up on the covering so I started the fuselage.
It is a cross between one of those slabs of wood things and a stick and tissue jobby. More like a hollow slab of wood!

Re: Vic Smeeds "Chubby"
Fortunately, I have a job but I do like to keep busy in my spare time. I find building models, flying and engine building very relaxing. It also takes me away from "work" thoughts.
Anyway, I have been in India for a while (work!), am now back in the fray, and so have returned to my building.
The Chubby is now ready for covering - it looks a bit odd so I preassembled it.

Very Nice Ian!! Glad you made it back from Goa safe and sound. I imagine last Monday must have been a day of rest for you.

Re: Vic Smeeds "Chubby"
Finally finished it. I had to move the motor as far forward as I dare and still add almost an ounce of lead to get it to balance.
I had planned on a neat battery installation - even had a slot for it - but had use it to help balance.
Any suggestions on line length for spinning this around?

I still haven't made a handle. I have one under construction - what is a good starting gap for the lines?

Re: Vic Smeeds "Chubby"
Seeing as it's designed for .030-.049 I would Imagine 35' would do it on line length. As for line spacing 2" is where you want to be.
Edit: the electric motor might be more powerful than the IC so you may be able to get away with longer lines.

Thanks Ron.
The advantage of electrickery is that not only can I change the prop but the timer allows me to adjust the RPM right down to zero.

Re: Vic Smeeds "Chubby"
Good stuff! Sorry I didn't comment sooner Ian. I looked at this thread briefly in the beginning and thought it was RC.
I hope you can have some fun with it.

Really nicely done Ian
I am a real bi-plane fan and this one is a beauty.
Please give us an update once you have flown her.
