I have run many castor glued gunked up Fox engines. I just dump a little alcohol through the engine, free it up an fire it off.
Fox engines are pretty stout. Just fire it off and don't worry.

If they are never run new pop the backplate and flush them out. Fox is good with QC regarding chips, but better safe than sorry.

Re: fox. 15 vintage small fin s around crankcase
Don't know about the Fox's, but I bought 2 Fuji .099S-II RC engines in the mid 1980's. They were on clearance at Hobby Shack, Fountain Valley, CA. Don't remember the exact cost, it was $5 or $10 each. When I took them home, both were full of aluminum machining shavings in the crankcase. It was a good thing that I didn't even attempt to turn them over until I had disassembled them.
Thus I learned a lesson to check all new and unrun engines beforehand by removing the crankcase cover.
I'm sure Fox has good QA, as they (or used to) run every engine before boxing.
Shortly after, Fuji became history, although their products seemed decent.

Thanks for the advice ithink i may open the back and have a look this engine what i can find out is a 1962 fox. 15 old engines have acool style and even if they only become shelf displays but iwant to try and run it .what is five bucks these days it came with a nice vintage prop and nose cone that are perfect!

If the old prop is Nylon then be wary. They have been known to break once they have some age on them.
