Promote the forum with flyers!
As a suggestion by roddie, I made some flyers that can be printed out and posted on bulletin boards in hobby shops, club houses, flying field shacks and more. Just print them out, cut the tabs and post it up!
-Jacob
They can be downloaded HERE!

Hehe, I think the average age of people on the forum are shining through, who else would use pull-off tabs for a web-address....
Where is the QR code?

Try if this works, it could perhaps be positioned in the white space on the right-top part?

Ok, I feel old often now, but I'm not that old. How does this work? Reads like a bar code? How did you come up with the pattern and connect it to the flyer?

Hi Duke,
How you make that pattern and connect it to CEF is magic for me as well.
But read the thing, that I can. On my smart phone I have an application that says "Neoreader". It's a program that can read these squares. I fire that up and point the lens to the square, and the phone does the rest.

Duke, the newer "Smart Phones" can scan this code (yes.. it's like a bar code, so to speak) Jacob may be able to import it into the flyer artwork.. I'm not sure. Maybe "Surfer Kris" can help?
These QR codes are becoming more popular for advertising. You'll see them in magazines, on posters and on product packaging in stores. The code provides a link to a webpage.

That's great! This is a jpg image though... right? I think that Jacobs "2" versions of the flyer are in pdf format. (one doesn't have the member info. option top left)
I guess if "yours" prints with high enough quality, it may be fine. (Edit) I guess I'm just concerned with people not being able to "download" by single-clicking. (not everyone is as computer "savvy" as others) I saved yours on my windows laptop by "right clicking" and choosing "save picture as" and choosing a folder to keep it in. I have not tried to print it yet though.
Thanks for the help!
Roddie

I can make a pdf file with the qr-code in it, but I don't know how to attach the file here though....
There are website for making the codes (it is very simple) and I've used this one for the picture above; qr-code generator

Surfer Kris, or Chris (G.O.Stang)... Jacob's (admin) contact info. has an "email" option.. as well as PM. Maybe you could attach the "two" pdf formatted versions with the added QR codes, and email them to him? We would all be appreciative.
Thanks in advance,
Roddie

Re: Promote the forum with flyers!
Thanks, I've seen the qr-codes before, but didn't know waht there were called. I've seen people reading them, but don't have a smart phone and must likely won't get one until the company upgrades me to one. I'm to cheap, they want $120 a month to upgrade my family plan.

Hey, the QR code works great, thanks Kris. Good idea.
I was at the museum a few weeks ago thinking they should add QR codes next to exhibits to take you to more information about them. Maybe I should volunteer.

The e-mail option will not allow for any attachments...
I'm pretty sure Jacob can make new pdf files (?) with the code, if not then we'll sort something out, I have the files ready to send on my computer.

Re: Promote the forum with flyers!
QR codes! Why didn't I think of that? I can put the code in the original file and re-upload them as PDFs. For the people who already printed out 1000 copies of the flyer, I can upload a blank PDF with the QR code on it, just feed the printed out flyer back into your printer and print the code onto it.

Re: Promote the forum with flyers!
My wife made me 25 laser prints of the CEF flyer at work. They look great! She tested the QR code with her phone, and it brought her to the CEF home page. PERFECT!!
I will soon start posting these on area community boards, in an effort to hopefully spark some local interest.
