More buried treasure
Well, after I got home this evening, I started cleaning up in preparation for moving in a new desk the wife was given from work. So, when I was gathering up all my 10/20/30 year old partial rolls of covering and paperwork, something fell out of a roll of old plans. Eureka! It was a set of fuse sides I had cut about 25 years ago for a set of Ace R/C foam wings. I don't remember why, but I decided I needed to design a 1/2A Cherokee using the foam wings. I drew out the profile and cut the fuse sides, but I got busy on something else and the wood got shuffled into the"someday" pile. Three moves later, the treasure surfaces!
Now to decide if I want to draw up a set of built up wings, or order a set of Ace R/C foam wings. The foam wings would be quick and easy. The built up wings would be lighter and cheaper. A set of the Ace wings is going for $9.95 these days. Back when I drew this up, I think they were still $3.50 a set. Ah, well. I'll probably break down and order a set of tapered and straight wings and use them for templates to drawing up my own. Who knows, in another 10 years, they may be worth a lot of money to a collector or builder.
Hmmmm.... How can I talk the wife into "investing" in as many wing sets as I can get my hands on.
