This ended at $284.99
Seems on the low end, don't they usually go for more?

Something like that its hard to say, the collector market does drop a little around Christmas, and mid summer.
For a non-mass produced engine, the collectability is limited to very few, the ones that know of it and the ones that actually want it.

Cox NFFS
Bernie had this engine listed at his store for months at $795 in the collectors section of the store. Im am shocked at the price this engine returned especially coming from a respectable premium seller/dealer like Bernie on E-Bay. $285 is a great deal whoever got it !!! Why do I miss all the deals??

Was expecting at least $400 more
Sold 6 others between $600 and $1,000 in the past. Oh well, that's how it goes

Someone got a deal!
Don't feel too bad Bernie, I remember seeing one listed as a BIN for $99.99 a good oh jeez 5,6 or so years ago. I wasn't that much of a big collector at the time, I liked to run them more than look at them so I didn't buy it. I knew what it was, just didn't know the value of such an engine otherwise I would have bought it.

Does anyone know what those engines sold for when they were purchased new? Thanks, Andy

That was very 'cheap'.
A couple years back I was in contact with Mr Beecroft to buy 2 of his.
I offered him more which he turned down.

Bob Beecroft keep records of where most all 258 engines were originally delivered to. With that said, When I purchased my .051 NFFS engine from a guy in Ohio, I called Bob to see if he was the original owner by chance... Luckily he was and also stated in his e-mail the original owner paid $35 for the engine back in 1996. Hope this helps.

Man! Do I miss stuff! I managed to skip over this when Mark posted it. Yes, a very cool read...to be printed and stuck in my notebook!
And now...a possibly dumb question: Somehow, I'd gotten the idea a while back that these were manufactured for their own, specific Free-Flight Contest among some qualified champions of the event. Were they JUST for collection purposes from the beginning, or were they run in/intended for an event? I'm trying to dial-up-back-track for this answer, so please forgive me if it's already been posted.
