Re: Follow The Traveling Engine!
I'm not sure but, I think the box was from Amazon, the same box it came to me in. And the paper I put your address on was a medical gas inspection check list, on my company letterhead. It was the only paper I had with me, but you would have had to cut it off the box to see the info on the back of the paper. I'm not sure what was strange? Glad you received it though and hope you have as much fun as we did with it.

Traveling engine tours Beaver Falls
I took the engine on a tour of our little town.
#1 is at my house
#2 at the Beaver Falls City Building and Firehouse
#3 at the old Union Dam in Beaver Falls (there are 3 dams on the Beaver River; there used to be quite a drop thus Beaver Falls)
#4 at the Fallston Dam
#5 at the Joe Namath plaque at the Beaver Falls Carnegie Library
#6 at the Beaver Falls High School where Joe and I graduated in 1961
#7 at Geneva College where I graduated in 1965 (and Joe didn't)
#8 at the Eastvale Dam (behind the trees)
#9 at the Beaver Falls Post Office by the 1st Presbyterian Church
#10 at the Post Office light; note the little Beaver on top of the light
#11 the Traveling engine and case
#12 the Traveling Engine with its relatives; all Bill Atwood designs
Next, the Traveling Engine goes to Brodak's

The Traveling Engine runs
I took the Traveling engine down to the Brodak Fly-In. I had hoped to get some pictures with other forum members, but none showed up, at least Sunday through Wednesday. I ran it down there for some other folks.
The engine and I:
Finally, I set it up and ran it at home this afternoon. Cox 5 x 3 prop, Cox 25% nitro fuel, Cox Hi Perf head (just as I received it). Tached 18,200 RPM. Here it is running; look close for the "ghost" prop.
I also put a video of the run on Utube; type GW Mohrbacher Engine in the search box and you should find it.
This is a swell project! Now who gets it next?

Re: Follow The Traveling Engine!
(Update)
I still haven't had a chance to fly the TE on the Wildcat yet due to weather and work. I'm going to try again this weekend hopefully on the fourth be nice to get it up on Independence day btw. If I'm not able to get a flight in with it this weekend I'm probably going to have to settle on a run video maybe a tandem run with my TD .051 screaming along with it then send it on it's way. It's been an honor working with this engine so far. Thanks Jason for starting this project!
Anyway just a tidbit on whats going on so far Take care folks (Bandit)

Re: Follow The Traveling Engine!
(Update)
Well folks we had a stroke of bad luck down my way, at around 5:30 pm today a tornado touched down at our field (Deputy Field) and did major damage. All our shelters, club house flying tables runway and our C/L flying circle were severely damaged or destroyed and has now closed the field indefently till further notice. due to this I don't have any place local to fly for a while (maybe up to a year). What does this mean for the traveling engine? Well it means I'm not going to be able to fly it now. So I'm going to set it up Sunday at home and get a nice run video. and then send it on its way to the next person next week. Sorry for this guys seems like bad luck has been following everyone in middle GA as of late. Look for a run video in the next couple of days. (Bandit out)

Re: Follow The Traveling Engine!
Ow, that hurts, sorry to hear the bad news. That was a really pretty field of grass too.
I'm afraid of losing my field due to common apathy and lack of use. Ever since the beefed up security at Fort Jackson, all the old grumpy RC guys won't bother to get their passes. It takes about 30 minutes and it's good for a year. They just grouch about Obama... they think he personally screwed with them just for kicks. Or maybe they're all scared of the background check. No wait, they probably all had BG checks to get their carry permits for when anarchy descends upon us. A few of us young guys still show up. Wayne Robinson, Bob Zambelli and me are still the only CL guys.

Re: Follow The Traveling Engine!
Yeah I hear ya. It happens. there is sometimes some strife between the IMAC fliers and the sport fliers at our club and just like you I'm one of only three active C/L fliers at my club. Wish there was a way to garner more support. (Bandit)RknRusty wrote:Ow, that hurts, sorry to hear the bad news. That was a really pretty field of grass too.

Re: Follow The Traveling Engine!
Finally I got the run video uploaded after several failed tries. This was taken in my front yard on a very hot day 99 deg, and sorry for me mentioning Australia as it's next stop looks like it's going to be spain then Australia. Anyway she ran great love the sound of those TD's! also I have a pic too to add with it which was taken t my Club.
First pic is at my club field GAMA which is a huge RC club. This club hosts SMS (Southeastern Model Show) It's well worth the trip lotsa goodies there. Anyway to identify the gentlemen surrounding me from left to right are Jose Rod, Club Prez Jim Parker, myself Sorry for the look gnats were getting in my eyes, Paul Sanders and Jim Fordor. Paul Sanders is in the process of coming back to C/L and is in the process of building a RM which will be powered by a McCoy
While conditions were not great and I was not able to fly it due to mother nature having a temper tantrum, I still had fun and it was an honor to work with this engine and i hope the next member has as much fun with it as I did! With that said, is now packed up and ready to send out to the next lucky member!
