Upgrading Medallion .049 for stunt

Upgrading Medallion .049 for stunt
The Medallion .049 has pretty decent bottom end. With a good #4 piston and liner / hi-compression head it makes a very stable stunt engine. Maybe with current spi who knows but worth a try. Larry Renger used this set-up and had good results. He helped develope the Venom when he was at Cox. Until bean counters killed it.

Sounds like a good idea. What kind of RPMS are you getting?
Cox
To be honest I never need to tack engine. Just nice steady run and it works very niclely. This is stunt and never run engine to max and not for speed. The crank is smaller opening than TD.

I've had a few good medallions (older ones with SPI #1 cylinder) that are very stuntable... not sure why you would want to make one quicker.

For the challenge or just to get that "tinkered" factor.
Cox
Its not making it quicker , its about more powerful package.

Re: Upgrading Medallion .049 for stunt
I've used Medaillion's in the Jnr Flite Streak and Little Brother (sheet wing, flapped stunter) I found them to have ample power to fly a nice smooth stunt pattern on 10% nitro and a 6x4 prop. The Jnr Flite Streak was a bit of a rocket ship at first 'till I put in on 45' lines.
If I needed more power first I would up the nitro.
I think the only time you would look for more power on a Medallion is if the setup wasnt performing and needed a bit more power. eg model a bit heavy or a bit large for engine. But I wouldn't start out with a hopped up one. They are a nice tame, manageable sport/stunt engine running stock standard.
