(Want to Buy)...or Research Price for a .35 Size RTF Stunter
My flying bud Patrick has smacked his ARF Flite Streak and wants to know if anyone on the forum has a Ready-to-Fly .35 size stunter.
I absolutely do not have the time to build one for him and he refuses to consider learning to build his own. He wants a Sig Skyray .35, but also said, "Just see what's out there."
He also wanted me to ask what someone might charge to build a stunter, everything included, ready to go.
Please shoot me a P.M. if you've got something.
Thanks! Kim

I would love to help, but I got nothing......... Much like you I barely have time to build my own. I imagine by the time you calculate kit cost, Labor and shipping it would be cheaper to learn to build.
Do you have a somewhat local CL club Kim? CL guys are really good about helping newer fliers. I wouldn't be surprised if he was offered a built kit and all the accessories to go with it.

Thanks Ron,
Yeah, I'm gonna ask around here and see what turns up. I promised to check for him and want to follow through, but am about worn out with him. If a deal turns up, I'm stepping back and letting him and the seller have at it.

Hello Kim, I have to agree with Ron on the shipping costs. Recently I've been selling some of my kits which generally costs an addtional $16-20 on the cost. Trying to mail a assembled or semi assembled model is going to double that cost not to mention the procedures required to prevent damage. How bad is the Flite Streak? I do have an original Flite Streak that I could assist in making a 1/2" solid fuse opposed to the arf fuse. The arf fuse should just stay in the box and be used as a template. Is the Wing damaged badly? Ken

I didn't really look at it much, but it appeared that the fuse snapped in two right behind the doublers...it hit fairly flat, and was spun around by weeds grabbing the lines.
I had been after him (he wants advice, and then ignores what I say) to start his loops a little lower (he'll take the plane up to 60 degrees+, then loop it over his head in the wind) or the thing will eventually roll in on him.
He responded by hedge-hopping the Streak so low that it hung up in the weeds and crashed, then said, "From now on, I'm flying these planes up high where they belong". I came very close to telling him where he could put all of his gear.
He refuses to work on any of his planes or gear, and I've blown untold amounts of shop time fixing or adjusting his planes in the hopes that he might take note on how this stuff is done, and actually learn something about their set-up. He only wants "plug and play" though, and while the Streak might not be the greatest out-of-the-box, I thought it held up surprisingly well considering the abuse it's had.
I appreciate your super-generous offer, but he'd only be interested if I made the project mine, and dumped the finished plane in his lap....and I got a ton of other stuff going on that needs attention.
I figure I'll let him tag along on some Fall Swap-Meet runs and see if he can find something, but am otherwise pulling the plug on this deal.
Sorry for the rant...I get myself into these things, and then hang in with them WAY too long!
Tired and Cranky Kim

Make him a coroplast wing for that size engine. I bet some 10mm coroplast with some type of spar glued in to stiffen...
Take the plan in the build section and blow it up to 36 or 40 inch span, then have at it. Probably want actual hinges instead of a cut hinge.
Or set up for foam cutting cores...

Here's some info... won't be cheap though... Maybe the fella's got plenty of coin?
http://brodak.com/control-line-kits.html?p=2
(Maybe the fella can figure out how to mount an engine...)
http://www.windyurtnowski.com/store/kits/default.htm
Note: above link (Windy's) I couldn't access the "more info." tabs on the models. (site may be under-construction...) There are however; ARF's for C/L Stunt fox .35 powered models there.

Here's another link...

There's a "where to buy" link provided on this page.

There's an ARF "Flite Streak" listed here... as well as many other tantalizing choices for guys who can't build for whatever reason.

I gotta' apologize here Kim... my previous replies to this post; list links for "ARF's"... not "RTF's"...
sorry... your friend may not be able to build a straight/light airframe... but he'll have to learn (eventually) how to; at least... "keep" his planes flying without anyone's help. Concerning your advice on "starting his loops lower" (good advice)... he seemed to get a little "put off"... Granted; he'd just crashed his airplane... but he doesn't seem to want to "help himself".
You've been a good friend, and given him enough help already. If he loves to fly as much as the rest of us... he should make more of an effort with the mechanical aspects.
Perhaps you should recommend some books on the subject; two of which helped me. "Building and Flying Control Line Model Airplanes" by Dick Sarpolus ISBN: 0-89024-051-5 and "Flying Around" by Jim Harris (a Harry Higley series book on C/L) I also have "Harry's Handbook for Miniature Engines" (another Harry Higley series book) and several books in the "RCM Anthology Library Series". Although dedicated primarily to RC flying; there's a book in the series titled "for what it's worth"... (I have Vol. V...) which is loaded with tips that would surely be useful if he "wants"... to learn more.

Hey Roger and all,
Thanks, I'd previously gathered a lot of this, but he insists on it being ready to fly...like bolt in the engine go. He DOES have a physical challenge in the he lost his fingers on his right hand, and only has a thumb to manipulate on that side. This is what prompted me to try and help him get some stuff in the air.
He CAN build, even with his handicap, but is very impatient, and will cobble things together that often fly apart. He just wants to leave stuff at my shop to be fixed, and doesn't care to watch how things are repaired. He DOES NOT have big dollars to spend, and gripes that there aren't people that will just build planes at cost for him. This is a common mind-set in my neck of the woods, and probably elsewhere, and really puts a strain on the ole charity supply...
My irritation hit the wall when he complained about the quality of the work of a club member put into his Streak. The guy DID build it in a hurry, but he was working for free, and Patrick's comment that his work wasn't up to par ticked me off.
I figure that his best bet will be the swap meets, but promised him that I'd ask to see what someone would charge to build a plane...specifically a SIG Skyray .35.
Sorry again for all this fluffing...probably ought to let it drop and leave it to him to get something going on his own.
Thanks again to everyone!
