.049 tuning
Ok so I just started playing around with my old .049 cox gas cars... now I open the valve 3 to 3-1/2 turns and get it started... so now what I want to know what most of you guy's do after this how many turn in more after 3 to 3-1/2 out to make your motor run properly without over leaning it out?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: .049 tuning
If you to far past 3 1/2 turns you will flood it. To lean it out you slowly decrease the turns until the engine screems.

Re: .049 tuning
I start about 2½ to 3 turns out and I prime at the exhaust port to get it going. Once it's running begin to screw the mixture needle in about 1/8 turn at a time. Wait a few seconds each time to allow the revs to stabilize. Continue until the engine is screaming at max revs. If you screw the needle in and the engine slows then you've gone past the "sweet" spot and it's begun to run too lean - back it out again to achieve max revs. From the point of max revs back out the needle (enrich the mixture) about 1/8 turn and that's it. Running the engine just that wee bit rich is a little bit of insurance against overheating and seizing, but without too much power loss.

Either I can't count or something is odd,
I am usually 4 1/2 turns out to start with Sig Champion 25% nitro.
My 15% nitro Omega with added castor I am closer to 3 1/2 turns out.

Mine are all over the place. The needle shape and all sorts of differences affect it. I just try to remember where it is for which one Just one of the reasons Cox tanked Bees are lovingly...sometimes... known as finicky. Remote tanked engines are much less persnickity.
