Gummy mess old cox cars.... HELP!
Hi can anyone please help me out here I have gotten some old cox cars and they are very gummy motor and plastic chassis and bodies...
Can somebody please let me know what's the best to get the gum off the motor and something safe to use on the plastic chassis and body without damaging them.
Thanks very much.

Re: Gummy mess old cox cars.... HELP!
Here are some threads on the subject, mostly gunky engines. Some car guys will probably chime in too.

Hi Reptile,
You will need to disassemble the model, I find soaking the engines in 1/2A fuel helps remove the gunk and free up the piston, cylinder.
Fuel or denatured alcohol will also work to clean the plastic, you will most likely lose the decals, glass cleaner works for light cleaning.
I have soaked plastic models in warm water and dish soap then scrub with a toothbrush. What models do you have? Some look very hard to clean
like the Pinto and Vega.

Thanks for the tips.
I have photos of my orange Baja bug I can't link them up yet because I am a new member... I am also trying to clean up some of the on road intercepter chassis cars.

Well I got the whole chassis and motor super clean.... But inside the bug body it is very sticky ...I tried windex and all sorts of spray cleaner even furniture polish and nothing takes it off....... I am afraid to put nitro fuel on it ... what other options do I have?
Thanks

Nitro fuel won't harm it. The model is built with the expectation of fuel spills and exhaust.reptile wrote: Well I got the whole chassis and motor super clean....
