Re: gummed up engine
Alan,
There are numerous ways. And numerous methods. I use denatured alcohol, heat and the correct Cox tools. Again, use the correct Cox tools
Do a search for past forum discussions on the topic. Much good info to be found. Let us know if you need more info than that.
What type of engine do you need to clean?
Ron

When you search the forum, use the Google box instead of the local forum box. It will be a more comprehensive output and all the results will still be from CEF.
In case you didn't know it, you can do an advanced search of any site by itself on Google like that.
Type searchterms site:domain.xxx. For instance to search www.rcgroups.com, you would type:
gummed up engine site:rcgroups.com with no "www" included. All the results are only from that site.

if its a babe bee i'd drop in a jar of thinner, Rustys right, this topic has been covered a ton and there several ways that would work.
Re: gummed up engine
I will use heat to get the engine turning then completely disassemble the engine. This includes removing the crank from the crankcase. I find most have the oil groove in the crankcase completely gummed up.
I will then soak in denatured alcohol for at least 4 hours to soften up the gunk. I then clean with a stiff bristle brush then clean dry with a paper towel. I use q-tips to get in all the tight places. Reassemble with a light coating of 2 stroke engine oil.
Add a new pickup tube and gaskets and your good to go.
