It also produced in 1994. Is it continue produced after 1994?
Both of my TD 09 RC (NIB and used) has dated 1994

Don't know about rarity but IMO if you've got an electric starter
it's the most impressive and easiest Cox To live with.

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
As far as worth goes $200 - $300 NIB. One just sold on E-Bay $203 USD. Not that this selling price matters in determning value. It was not a highly produced engine..Value is just going up as the years tick on. Hold on to it. Found the AD!!

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
Bernie bought 2 TD 05 RC one NIB and one mounted with US$300 on this forum.
He got 300 for NIB & now seling mounted one with 200, let see how its going!!
the price of this things keep on going up. I bought my NIB with 180 and I thought at that time, I over paid. but now, 300 and sold very fast!

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
Someone is stalking me here
Yes, I got a good deal on the 2 for $300 but one had been mounted, and possibly test run.
The NIB one went into my collection, to replace the one I had sold for strong $$'s and the mounted/test run one is for sale for $195. I have no doubt that it will sell.

All this fuss simply because the RC muffler is unobtainable, they don't even seal against the cylinder anyway...

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
Both engines have been talked about in this tread, and the question is how many where made and how much are they actually worth.
With all parts more or less available except for the muffler, it doesn't make any sense to me. In fact the 05RC engines had a rather bad reputation until only a few years ago, and they where put in the same category as the Queen Bee...

I love the .05..it's one of my favourite engines made by cox...tried looking up reports on the RC .05 but hard to find.

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
I haven't seen any official reports/reviews on the 05RC either. The rumors where that they would easily overheat and were down on power, hence the need for a muffler that didn't seal and it only added weight.
I have sealed the muffler on my engine, and with a proper compression ratio it doesn't over heat either. For a cox engine it is not bad, but they aren't any match for the Norvel engines (both in terms of power and weight).

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
The values of the TD RC 050 and 090 do not lie with their perfomance as engines.
The scarcity of those engines is what drives up the price.
Venoms sell for around $400 yet we can easily duplicate performance for sub-$100 with an engine that looks just like it.
The TD RD 050 has beeen relegated to the "collector" category years ago. One could buy a TD 049/051 and add our $35 carburator (from Cox .050 TD RC) and end up with the same or better performance. But then, it's not an OEM TD RC 50 for those that collect engines.

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
Can anyone tell me the magic number?
How many of TD 09 RC porduced by cox, 1000, 2000, 4000?
I assume it should less than TD 05 RC! But anyone with solid cox history, record?

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
According to Dan Sitters book the production number for the TD 05 RC is 2000 in 2 batches of 1000. For the TD 09 RC he does not state production numbers but one would have to assume the production numbers for the TD 09 RC were the same or lower than the TD 05 RC.

Re: TD 09 RC, How rare is it?
I just find it rather sad to see engines turn into a type of post-stamp or doll collection. At least stamps should have served their purpose, i.e. they should have been posted and used, in order to be valuable.
For post-stamps it is also the odd ones, wrong colors or other errors in the makings, that are extra valuable.
I wonder how much I can get for my extra thin-walled tank then?

And the used one we had listed for $195 sold this morning, less that 48 hours after it was listed.
