The Widow can "Bite"

The Widow can "Bite"
Just like the live counterparts we have been discussing lately. Our beloved BW will bite too, usually when provoked after exiting an outside loop.
My fault really, as I knew better to do one with the tank so close to empty. I was excited now that I am able to do them so easily and kept doing them in succession. The result.......
Epoxy Bomb!!!!

Edit: I meant to say outside loop

Yeah, it's not the first rodeo for this bird. It's already gone through surgery and the prognosis is good.

Your Bean is approaching the number of repairs mine went through before I refried it.

21" span and AUW of 5.8 oz after the nose mod. I have snapped the fuse twice since then, so prob closer to 6oz now.

Re: The Widow can "Bite"
Hmm poss I've over extended the Aerobic.
It's now 26in's and I recon sub 10oz..
Perhaps a B/W won't be powerful enough.

That sounds like a job for at least a Tee Dee 049, or maybe a Medallion with an SPI cylinder.John Goddard wrote:Hmm poss I've over extended the Aerobic.

Re: The Widow can "Bite"
Don't forget that you can compensate for too much weight or too much power to some degree by adjusting line length.
Also, doing too many consecutive loops can cause the lines to bind and decrease your ability to control. When George Aldrich created the current CL stunt pattern in ~1952, he arranged the order of maneuvers to wind and unwind to prevent controls binding.
We Sport and Combat flyers just have to remember how many loops we have done.

Re: The Widow can "Bite"
Luckily we have Teflon coated line these days, which I have yet to bind. But dacron or steel sure will. I think 5 twists maximum is the old standard. With Spiderwire I don't even count anymore.gcb wrote:Don't forget that you can compensate for too much weight or too much power to some degree by adjusting line length.
