Re: Several Questions
I do tend to over think things. I like for things to work nicely though. So I think it helps.
Some people are willing to go by without understanding how something works. I cannot do that. I will sit there and study it until I understand it. I did that with models engines. Same for car engines. Still need to figure out everything in the transmission.

Re: Several Questions
So how is it pronounced? If people decide phonetically, they would say it like Row-lah. Therefore, I'm guessing it sounds like Rah-lah. Unless it's closer to a Latin derivative, then it could be rrow-yah.Godsey3.0 wrote:Rolla is my middle name. It was my Step Grandfathers first name. I have only ever heard one person pronounce it correctly upon just seeing the spelling. Not sure why. Most people just do it wrong. Some do it wrong even after I tell them how to.

Re: Several Questions
Wow. Very nice Rusty. I always describe it as Allah with and R in the front. Everyone does Row-la. I actually had to call Indra so he could figure it out.
Some people in my spanish class would call me rrow-yah. It has the double L which would make a Y sound.

Re: Several Questions
I enjoy picking words apart. Lots of times you can infer a definition that way. It's amazing how many English words are just a combination of two or three other words who's definitions mesh into a more descriptive use.
Descriptive - script - ordered information; de-script - break down information; describe - to break down information for the purpose of passing information, as in a de-scription.
Information - in-formation; ordered concepts.
I seriously regret never studying Latin. It's where most Western languages come from. When my son took 4 years of it in HS, I realized a lot of new meanings and inferences.

Re: Several Questions
We learn Latin roots in English. One new root per day. We also did Greek roots.

Ok. I found some 1500 grit sandpaper. Gonna polish that crank when I get home.

Re: Several Questions
I cut a 1/4" or so strip of paper about 8" long, clamp the crank and do the old shoeshine strapping motion, making sure it gets even attention all the way around. Don't get over aggressive and finish it wet. And don't mess with the journals in the crankcase. They're too soft. Just make sure the oil groove is clean and clear. Test spin it dry, but oil it before you reassemble.Godsey3.0 wrote:Ok. I found some 1500 grit sandpaper. Gonna polish that crank when I get home.
