As above guys did we know the 050 r/c was an 051?
If we did, did we know that the non spi was created by the cylinder being different to
a TeeDee?

So the .050 is really .051 in displacement? There was no .050 cubic inch cylinder?

For some reason Matt I thought I'd read that it was really an 049.
And we all 'know' that 051 cylinders have a 5 stamped in the
exhaust port don't we.....? Embarassed
I guess these were another exception to the rule cos they don't
got nuffin stamped on them.
It does have a ringed 051 piston though.

Surprised

Displacement wise the 05 and 051 were identical I do believe.

Exhaust ports on the 05, I believe, was .095" while the 051 was .118"

Yep and yep.
In all non-slit cylinders, the exhaust port height is how SPI or non-SPI is created. The pistons are the same for their respective displacements.

Ah didn't know that Rusty.
I thought it was the piston on my 09 R/C.
I'll take a look tomorrow.
Very Happy

Yeah, the piston-sized method of producing SPI was new to the slit cylinders, at least after the Surestarts came on the scene. Probably cheaper than making special cylinders for each application. I wonder if they made all of the pistons the same size and then shaved the ones for SPI applications.
