Cox Engine of The Month
is it possible?

is it possible?
one of my many other crazy, ramblings... But here is my thought, would it be possible to convert a losi 1/18 scale truggy to nitro (cox .049 power)? I know that using the stock body would be to hard to adapt for an engine so i was thinking of upgrading most of the parts to aluminum for extra strength and tracing the shape of the old body onto 1/8'' ply and making it all work....
Me and my dad found out how fast it would go, diameter of the wheels is 6.3'' and with a gear ratio of 1:1 it would go.... 80mph!?!?!? so we were thinking a gear ratio of 1:4 or a 25 tooth gear on the engine and a 100 tooth gear to deliver the power of the engine to the wheels
thanks guys

Re: is it possible?
What engine do you have in there now? A .15?
It won't move an inch with a gear ratio of 1:1. .049's boast high RPM but not much in the way of torque.
Now if you had a transmission....

Are you talking this version?

The gearbox is sealed and extensive mods would need to be done for it to work. You also need a clutch and a break. Then mount a fuel tank.
Try to find a sportwerks 1/16 chaos nitro buggy they used to sell 5 years ago. It has a 05 motor in it so a cox would be easier to drop in. The tank would be set up along with the gearbox and clutch/break.
