Sorta but ebenezers' one has a V tail and looks to me like a fast plane!jmcalata wrote:Sorry ... , the model posted is the AMA Cub a little rubber model, was the best made model in the world , thousand units cost 160 $ in the AMA.

My Avatar is a pic of a Speed 400 powerd, scale (ish) Bugatti R 100. There was only 1 full size made and that never flew.
It was designed as a fighter, but aiso as an air racer. It had two Bugatti 400bhp car engines driving contra rotating Props. Next to the Gee Bee R2 my favorite airplane

Re: Dakota (Joe Wagner) 1949
Back to the Dakota, I got my plans years ago from Joe Wagner. He may still sell them, not sure. He has been ill and was living with his son for awhile. His plan sets include a lot of inside information that he writes on the plan. Highly recommended.
A kit of the Dakota is available from BMJR. Not sure if it has been upsized. The original was made for the OK Cub (.049) and others in that range. The 120% size shown here is better for something like a Sure Start .049 while the original would be great for a Pee Wee .020 or a tuned down .049.
A little tourist info...Joe Wagner and another flyer - Randy Randolph started the SMALL (Small Model Airplane Lovers League) movement. I'm sure others were involved but I don't know who they are.
In any case...Dakotas Forever!
BTW, for those who Yahoo, there is a Dakota group there.

DAKOTA FOREVER !!!!!
JM,
I do not know Joe personally. I participated in Joe and Randy Randolph's SMALLnet forum when it was active, and I have purchased some plans from Joe.
I sent Joe an email today from Yahoo asking how he is doing with his recovery and also if he or his son were still selling plans packages. When I get a reply I will post the information here.
For years Joe has used the ID vecojoe[at]juno.com. It may still be active. I'm sure he would like to hear from those who enjoy his designs. Sending from the Dakota group on Yahoo, it only showed vecojoe@...
I'm afraid I forgot to include in my last post how nice your ship is. i can see why your son has such a big smile.

That is one tough bird. Great flights and video, enjoyed it a lot. Great covering music also.

jmcalata wrote:Hi, I enjoy with Richie´s Dakota video maiden flight.
Way too much engine & way too much fuel. I'm sure his next flight was with a much richer run with a more careful part-filling of the tank.

Re: Dakota (Joe Wagner) 1949
yes the solution is rich adjust, less fuel or radio assisted (checking fligh controls before launch)

Re: Dakota (Joe Wagner) 1949
The Dakota is finally assembled. My son Shawn built this very cool example from the outerzone downlaoad. Power is a OK Cub .049 . The power of this engine concerns me, this is on par with a Cox Babe Bee. I'm was seeing similar rpm numbers on the test stand. Very cool little bird. Waiting to get some coats of dope on it and the windshield in. Unfortunately, our flying field as of last month doesn't allow for uncontrolled flying. No rubber power, freeflight, hand launch glider. You will go up in flames if you choose to do so. So, to keep the peace I will abide by the new regs and find another spot to try it out. I can't wait as I've been a spectator for all of my club members who own and fly them. My son and I had a lot of fun on rainy days just doing a little at a time. I really can't wait to get on the tissue deco. Here's a glimpse.

Finally I solve youtube copyright claims erasing songs and you can see the second flights two years ago.
