Old School Mini Bikes
How many of you had one when you were a kid? I didn't, but I had few Yamahas, a Honda and a Kawasaki.
Here it a quick bunch of pics of my son's that we just finished.
When we bought it before mothers day last year.
After I got it running last year. the 2HP B&S just didn't run like it should... it ran but not where I thought it should be. A few weeks ago he blew the choke out of the carb and he was pretty upset....
So him and I fixed it all up this past weekend. I had already bought most of the parts. I did have to order a Harbor Freight engine, it runs very well. It's much faster, I made him put his motorcycle helmet on now instead of his bicycle helmet.
Here is the first one we bought.... to be fixed up after the Jeep, for my youngest son. Not quite old enough yet so Daddy will have one to play on

Ouch. Which part of the link is breaking? Is your chain too tight? Is the sprocket on the clutch aligned perfectly with the sprocket on the wheel?
Re: Old School Mini Bikes
Master link just disappears, not sure. The sprocket is tweaked a little and it's an ancient chain. Got both on order

Are you sure you got the "C" clamp on there? I did that once, and the link kept falling out.

Re: Old School Mini Bikes
I have one!
They make 2 stroke conversion kits for them, I would love to have one.

Re: Old School Mini Bikes
My son was riding yesterday and I clocked the mini with my Vstar at 25 up a slight incline and 35 down a slight incline, so I'd be safe to say ~30mph, which seems pretty quick to me.
I think I got this figured out with the master link. The last time I put a master link in I put the clip facing in towards the bike and the open end of the clip facing away from rotation. When he was riding yesterday I started seeing half arcs on the concrete in the turns. At first I thought he was dragging a peg, it ended up being the chain on the rear sprocket. I told him not to lean so much in the turns. With the clip facing in, I think this eliminated the issue of the clip being scraped off or loose. So far no more issues

For a while I was into restoring the engines. Unfortunately, the powder coat guy was unreliable...and other stuff got in the way.
Here's a sample

Mudhen, you always amaze me with your projects, very well done.

What, a minibike?
How much to ship it?
old minibike
Yes,the old school minibike is headed out . the honda 50z (also technically a minibike) is on the restoration list lol
The old minibike has seen better days. The "transmission) pulleys and cover are gone, you probably couldn`t get the parts anymore,I really doubt you would want this one,and shipping would probably cost an arm and a leg.
there is a gokart racing guy at the local track that wants the engine,it has a little performance work done to it already ,the frame I was just going to haul in with a bunch of other scrap.
The honda mini is in need of restoration, wasn`t planning on selling it or at least not in "as is" condition

Re: Old School Mini Bikes
I never had a minibike as a kid but I had a Honda trail 50 instead and this past X-Mas, I got my 12 y.o. son a Baja Warrior 200cc minibike from Pep Boys and my 7 y.o. son got a nice used 5 horse go-kart.
