Looks great Bob, Perfect use for the cowl…. Between the SL, Air Truck, and this one, I think stubby Cub has the best chance to fly … I enjoyed watching the build

I think so too Robert. Actually it balances pretty good, around 1/2" from the leading edge if I had taken time to adjust. I thought it would be somewhat nose heavy, not necessarily a bad thing.
I wasn't going to, but I'm going to add landing gear struts like on the Carl Goldberg Cub. Bamboo skewers with the cut ends soaked with CA so not to split, then groove and sand. Might do the farings too.
Again, wasn't going to, disgusted with myself for messing up the final finish I was going to fly it into the ground or at least fly it. Now I have become attached to the flawed little thing so I don't know. Maybe, maybe not.
Regretfully, I did you one better on the big Goldberg Cub. Like free with a NIB Saito four stroke. My ex son-in-laws father died and he was cleaning up his estate. I told him to sell it, but he said - you or it goes in the trash, I don't have time to fool with it. So here it is.
A little pay-back maybe as I had given his father a complete with Futaba radio a Falcon 56 when he first retired. I don't think he ever flew it himself but had others fly it at the local club. At least he got some enjoyment out of it.

It’s too bad and sad the gentleman passed before finishing the big Cub… There was a man in our old club that had that same plane…. Sadly he has been gone for several years now.,. He was the guy that was first to greet new comers and invite them to his buddy box….
I had my time of big planes and enjoyed it but these days prefer 1/2A stuff and electric park flyers….Maybe even a little rubber free flight…No club around anymore so I build to the random sites that are accessible…,
I think the neatest part of the Silver Lining trilogy is that because of a missed auction buy something else, better came out of it….

You beat me on this one -- I bought the Goldberg Cub this week with a standard and clipped wing, OS Max .61 goldhead and useless electronics for $15.00. Didn't need it, but caved being cheap.

Ah, Andrew I got you mixed up with Robert while quoting from another thread. Easy for me to do. Sorry about that.
