DT Linkage
Putting a Tantone DT timer on Galaxy 585, it will have a OS .15.
I think I am the only guy on the planet building this model right now.
Ive done a lot of research on DT's however most of it is for smaller planes.
This model has a 29" span tailplane.
I have a Tantone DT timer on the way.
Some of the best info I found was on Texas Timers "hints".
They used Dacron 50# for linkage. I dont know it this was prior to Spectra braided line or they used it because it stretched more. And dont know if this will be correct for my big tailplane.
Any recommendations/input/experience on linkage would be very helpful for me.
I know I need to rig up a washer or something on the timer so line doesnt slide off. A little perplexed by the "spring". In "hints" the guy used a homemade spring (not doing that). Any handy springs that work?

Re: DT Linkage
Both links are for rubberband powered, but the string, spring, bead, timer DT concept is exactly same for gas
its a LONG 38 mins, but you can skip around.. Josh Finn shows how he builds a DT, it is nice to SEE it as built,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvV0Qx8c4bw
next up? the Rocketman with DT from LaserCut
this is the first KIT I built with super easy instructions and guidance on a DT
https://lasercutplanes.com/product/rocket-man/
good luck, I hope either helps

Re: DT Linkage
The majority of my planes are sport type and one being competition. I use DT fuse and rubber bands. I bend my hooks from lightweight music wire securing them with some epoxy and reinforced nylon tape. Make certain you have a limit string which doesn't allow the stab to tilt too high vertically. I'm assuming you have a DT timer and a fuel shutoff timer?

Re: DT Linkage
cstatman, thanks for posting those links, I saw that video before and breezed through it since it is so long, watched the whole thing today and it did teach me a bit more.
Guess I will start with some braded fishing line and some sort of spring to tune tension.
Ken yes, I have an engine shut off and a DT tick off timer in the mail to me.
From the video it looks like you can build in a stopper on the line to limit tilt. There is also a tab mounted to stab platform that comes up through horiz. stab (for rubber band) this also limits tilt.

Re: DT Linkage
Received some 3/32 alum. tubing in mail today that Im going to use in this assembly. Somehow UPS managed to bend it all in half during shipment! Just another what the hell story.
I just opened an ink pen on my desk, any reason this spring wouldnt work for DT line resistance? I know it is stiffer than a homemade piano wire spring but...?
