Cox Engine of The Month
Ken again...........

Ken again...........
In a thread long forgotten Chancey and I were talking about Cox glow plug clips, among other things. Wondering about the difference between the all red wire clips and the red/blue wired clips. Ken chimed in with all red for the .020's red/blue for the .049's. Probably common knowledge here, but I had doubts as my all red wires outnumbered red/blue five to one kind of like .049's outnumber .020 by about the same ratio.
Red/blue clips are noticably larger especially the bottom connector.
Moral of the story is - Don't doubt Ken.

Well, isn't that interesting, to say teh least. Now I will have to go look for mine. Just not sure if it is here or at the cottage. This has just really peaked my interest now more than ever! Thanks for the pictures and identification to both you and Ken.

Ha. I was just going through Bernies site and found the identical Cox clip only with red/green wires. Go figure. Aftermarket make-up maybe.

Re: Ken again...........
It goes deeper. What about clips for the .010, and .09 and .15? Two sizes do not fit all.
I forget what clip I used when I ran my .010's. Someone has got to be a "clip" collector....................

I am pretty sure nothing smaller existed for the .010 and the larger .049 one works for the .09 and .15.
I just use the .049 clip on the .010

I picked Mud's brain on this too:
Hi Bob,
This is just a personal opinion. I've never really looked into it.
I don't think Cox put that much thought into the clips, (apart from engineering it for their own glow head.)
Once they developed the clip, it became the standard for the various starter kits they manufactured.
And either clip works fine on the .010, or .15.
I'm not sure why they changed it.
All I can say confidently is that in all the literature I have, they never advertised a specific clip for a specific engine.

Bernies OEM clip:

Oh well, copy and paste or go to his website. Green/red wires.

Re: Ken again...........
How did you gather all those Rene? I thought I had a bunch, but Wow!
I know I have one of those new tightly wrapped examples, but I can't find it. Some of mine no longer connect, seems there was a repair thread here some time ago. Maybe in the distant past red/red and red/blue got together and produced Bernies red/green. Yeah, loved that show too.

Ancient Chinese Secret, wiseman say to invest in Yellow Clips. At todays* current price, I do have a small fortune stashed in that jar!
I guess one or two came along with each group or lot of engines I've purchased since joining the forum. Like Star Trek Tribbles they just keep multiplying. I just recently started putting them all in one place as I find them in boxes or drawers, yeah there are few there!
* todays curent price

I tried to capture that picture of Bernies glow plug clip several times without success. The keyboard challenged - Bob
Me too, one of those clips would invariably turn up with one of my five or ten dollar Cox engines, sometimes in strangle mode.
It would seem that Cox would have included one with models that had fuel and battery included, but at least all of mine don't.
